Hello BBB! My MSN Live account has a cell phone number to have messages sent to while I’m offline, I set this ages ago. Now that my cell phone number has changed, MSN won’t allow me to change my number! I’ve repeatedly entered my new number (through my email account, and through the MSN Live client), but the change will not take effect, has any one else experienced this? I’ve spent hours googling it and couldn’t find any other cases. Thanks for any help in advance!

However, in search of some sort of answer I did try a few things today to see what would happen. This does not entirely solve the problem but it may help with key contacts.
If your contact enters a mobile number for you in the mobile number field on the contact card on their messenger list, it will then show you as mobile when you are logged off (or appearing offline). SMS works fine both directions with contacts who have done this.
I’m not sure if adding your mobile number in your Live ID profile will take care of it or not. I don’t want to put my mobile number out there for all my messenger contacts but you could try it if you don’t care. It may or may not update the correct field in their contact card. But for sure – if there are certain contacts you want to reach you – you can tell them to fill in the mobile number and it will work fine.
It’s not ideal but it’s a viable workaround.
