Alot of people dont know this so I will share with you all.
On top of yahoo messenger where it says “yahoo messenger” you can change it to whatever you want it to say all you have to do is go to either my computer or search (depending on if you wanna be lazy or not)
If you went to my computer go to you local disk drive and look for the folder called program folder and go to yahoo
After getting there open the folder called messenger and scroll all the way down and look for the .txt file called ymsgr
Open it and scroll all the way to the bottom after doing so type in
[APP TITLE]
caption=After doing so it should look like all this in the red
[Search]
Number of Menu Items=2Search Text 1=Search the Web!
Search Menu 1=Search the Web!
Search URL 1=http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%s&fr=msgr-buddySearch Text 2=Search Address Book
Search Menu 2=Search Address Book
Search URL 2=http://address.yahoo.com/yab?v=SA&A=s&search=%s[APP TITLE]
caption=After “caption=” you can type anything you want and after you do save the file and your done! now after “caption=” whatever you typed will apear at the top of yahoo messenger 😀 thats all for now
If you wanted to use search just search for ymsgr.ini 😀

December 22, 2004 at 3:41 pm #109310amy_d_gParticipantI did a search on my pc and still can’t find ymsgr.ini or anything similar… the only .ini file in my messenger folder is ymsgipdl.ini[/b] which contains the following:
[Request]
Token=1
Src=[Options]
Set Home Page=1
Dont Set Home Page Default=0
Create Desktop File=0[Config]
Key=HKCU
Subkey=SoftwareYahooPagerYMSGIPAny ideas why I don’t have it?
December 22, 2004 at 6:30 pm #109313ToeBeeMemberYou know on my pc it doesn’t have the .ini. It just says ymsgr. Try doin a search for that instead 🙂 Or if you go to c:/ Program files/ yahoo/ messenger. You should see a ymsgr file next to a ymsgr tray. Just click the file.

December 25, 2004 at 11:18 pm #109308blackpagerMembersetting up a default favorite Skin:
1. Open Regedit
2. Navigate to My ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareYahoo!pagerdefaults
3. On the left frame, edit YbSkinName and enter the Folder name and the XML file.Example1 : JoshSkin FinalJosh Plus.xml
Example2 : Maverickmaverick.xmlDecember 26, 2004 at 5:50 pm #109314DermotParticipantFor the person only seeing YMSGR
you will have to have all extensions ON to see the .ini
then it will show as YMSGR.ini which is configuration format.
December 28, 2004 at 12:12 pm #109306oliezekatMemberI warn that Y!MP 1.7CT auto-edit this file with language (and country) choosen from “Y!Messenger Plus Setup”. YMP create one backup before which named “ymsgr.ini.save”
Y!Pilot 1.7 include wizard to personalize shortcuts and searches into “ymsgr.ini”… But disabled for single-user. Can re-enable it if edit “ypilot.ini” and remove comment char “;” for “Language wizard” line… And re-launch YPilot, its “inside Yahoo!” and “Search options” menus will have “Personalize” feature ;op
No support for this extra-feature (or another you could find) :o|
November 19, 2008 at 4:48 am #109316NessaParticipantThis is a very old topic but reason I resurrect this is simple: I’ve been doing this since way back when I first learned how to do this in 2005 and I finally decided to upgrade to 9.0 but I can’t seem to be able to do this anymore.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
