Well, i got my AIM friends to run through on my Gtalk, and its been working fine….sortive
Well. I have my buddies in my list and there Screen name is “[email protected]”, but i want that name to be for example just “blahblah” . So i right click the persons name and select Rename….It changes the name fine and everything seems ok, but this is what happens weird.
The name stays fine even when i login & logout, but when i go to chat with the person that has the changed name, the program says the person goes offline and puts them offline, but i can still chat with that person fine. How would i go about fixing this, or is this just not possible in these early stages.
My second question was it seems as though theres a big lag time between chatting, is this cause its on another network or what..(sorry im not used to switching all of these networks around for clients, im used to just plain old AIM).
Any help would be much appericated 😎

Second Question: That is most likely caused by the delay in servr switches, yes, you are correct.

well with that said, whats another client thats close to GTalk then if that name change bug has no fix. I like the simplicity, yet functionality of Gtalk without all the unecessary clutter of pointless buttons. Thanks for the reply.

That ‘offline when I start chatting’ I guess is a Jabber MSN transport problem, I dont think we can do anything about it.I dint have any trouble renaming or never changed after I renamed.
A tip: you can rename much faster logged in from PSI. select the contact and F2 is the shortcut for renaming that contact, rather than right click on GTalk

Any idea when the next release of Gtalk will be and if it will feature the icon/universal client capability?

It most definately will not feature interoperability. They’re still perfecting buddy icons, and they should be released in early April or so. After that, they may work on AIM interoperability, but never with Yahoo or MSN.March 10, 2006 at 3:49 pm #138062Baloo UrsidaeMemberI’ve upgraded the transports on ursine.ca to their latest versions, which seems to have fixed stability issues folks have been seeing.
Also, while only around 400 people are registered on ursine.ca, around 5000 Google Talk users use the transports on ursine.ca. If you use the transports on ursine.ca, consider getting in touch with me at [email protected] to work out donating some money via western union.
