MemberIs there a way in the aimres.dll I can change the function and icon of a single button? For example, I want to change the “write” button for email at the bottom of the buddy list (between IM, Chat – Info and Setup) to the away message icon and function. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Participantyou’ll have to look for the function number (like 1134 or whatever the number is, I forget what they are now, I havent had to mess with those for a long time now) and swap them around. there might be a little more to it than that, but I think once you get that part down the rest pretty much makes itself known.
oh and by the way, you already have another topic just like this one

Memberthanks TigerBlade, but I tried looking in the dialoge (323 I think if I recall correctly) of the buddy list and I can’t seem to distinguish what bits of code are for which buttons.
and that other topis is about physically moving button, this one is about changing the function of one

CONTROL “”, 174, “_Oscar_IconBtn”, 0x50010000, 129, 215, 15, 20is for the set of four buttons (you’ll have to check to see what they are, I dont use aim anymore, and the aim I do use has long been devoid of buttons
Code:CONTROL “”, 139, “_Oscar_IconBtn”, 0x50010000, 38, 140, 20, 20

Memberok I found out what is what, but if I replace the line for the “Mail” with the line for the “Away”, it removes the right one (mail) but doesn’t replace it with any icon, just a space. Any tips?

Participantwell what I did (with an old backup I had of AimRes) was swap the buttons for AIM.com and Preferences. it doesnt involve physically dragging or moving anything, just swapping numbers.
for mine, in dialog 323, I swapped the control numbers 1140 and 174, which correspond to AIM.com and Preferences, respectively. then I had to go to 23>323 and find the same thing further down in that window, where it saysCode:and
Code:i swapped the numbers for those, and voila when I started up aim, the two were swapped, both their functions and their icons.

Memberthanks tiger,
the functions finally swapped, I was unaware that the things were in 23 as well. the icons didnt swap but im going to keep playing with it, thanksSeptember 16, 2004 at 2:08 am #38188drguitarum2005
Memberodd thing happened actually, the function of the blank area worked fine for what I switched it, only the icon wouldnt show and the “info” button next to it had some new function somehow, sometimes I could see a blank box flicker behind it. all I did was swap 1002 (mail) with 1487 (away), so I put it back to normal for now.

Participantyou cant just cut and paste the lines, you have to just manually change the control numbers only. as for the icons, they should have swapped, but if not, go back to your backup and try it again. although i’m not sure what version you’re using, if that makes any difference, I think mine’s still 5.5.something (when I basically gave up on aim and converted to trillian)

Member5.5.3595 is what I am using. I didn’t copy and paste the lines, I only swapped out the 1002 and 1487 on the appropriate ones. Oh well, I’ll play with it, it’s not THAT big of a deal to me. Thanks man.
