Hello Members,
YTunnelPro users might be aware of the preferences, “connection setting options” stating “these configuration settings should not be changed unless absolutely necessary”.
I would like to know if this could be changed. If not, by YTunnel having full access to that port, (via my firewall settings), are they able to access other information on my computer; they really do not need to access? 😮
Hopefully, I have composed this post clearly and
understandable.Any help is certainly appreciated. Additionally, is it posible to change my user name here on BigBlue?

I’ve read all the posts about y-tunnel and I’ve got to say I agree with johnson. The fact is, that any windows based pc will expose open ports to the internet. Period. If people are worried about security, which they should be, they should make sure that they have a good firewall intalled. I will never surf the net without one.
Anyway, I decided to test y-tunnel out on a site that I use to check my firewall and indeed, have checked out a few firewalls out on this site. So the idea being, that if I had Y-tunnel running and carried out a port probe on my machine, any failings in Y-tunnel would be exposed as I would get a negative result on the test. Having previously carried out the test without y-tunnel running of course.
On both occasions I got a clean bill of health with this test. Talk of open ports is just scaremongering by people with little or no knowlege of internet protocol. I’m not setting myself up to be an expert in these matters because I’m not. but I do take the trouble to find things out for myself before I post scare stories.
