How can I check if my hard-drive is SATA? Preferably without opening up my computer. And is there a difference between SATA 1 and 2?
Thanks.
You seem to have quite a few hardware questions, lazyturbo. Might I suggest google, as well, before posting a question? It would probably be faster than having someone post here.
Anyway, to find if your hard drive is SATA instead of IDE, do the folowing:
Right-click My Computer > Hardware (tab) > Device Manager > Open the “Disk Drives” tree > Right-click on a hard drive that you want to know if it’s SATA or not > Properties > Details tab > Drop Down Menu: Select “Enumerator” > What shows up in the little window will either be IDE or SATA.
It would really be easier to just open up your computer, look at your hard drive, and check if the cable coming from it is very wide and thin like a ribbon (IDE), or if it’s a very skinny and thin cable (SATA).

Haha, k. Sorry. Thanks for the info.
