First off, thanks to Doris for starting this great thread. It’s good to check in and see what’s up and hear how everyone is doing.
My life has been fairly crazy lately. November is always a very busy time for me at work, and it’s beginning to let up some, but still pretty busy.
The last week of October, I came back from a business trip on a Sunday night and my girlfriend kicked me out on Monday. And I left on another business trip to Santiago, Chile on Tuesday, got back on Saturday, Nov. 1st and moved into a new place (I’m renting a room). So that was fun… NOT! Since then, I’ve taken four more trips — to Mexico City, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, and this week, Houston. So lots of travel, and elevated workload in between trips.
Also, on November 6th my first grandchild was born: Autumn Bree Hester was born 7lbs 15oz and 20 inches long.
On top of that, my 93 year-old grandmother fell and broke her hip, so I’ve been driving an hour away to visit her. She’s doing well, but is understandably discouraged. She lives by herself in the same house she’s been in for the past 30 years, and she’s worried that they might take away her driver’s license! 😮
As you can see, my life has been a little crazy. I keep hoping things will settle down, but there’s no end in sight. This is one of the main reasons I am planning to sell BigBlueBall — I just can’t keep up and do it right, and need to turn it over to someone who can.
On the bright side, I’m taking the last two weeks of the year off and going back to visit my eldest son in NYC and my youngest son, his wife and my grandaughter in Connecticutt. I’ll be looking for a permanent place to move to probably in January and can settle down a bit.
Cheers,
Fanatic (Jeff)

But on the bright side – you have a beautiful new granddaughter!! That outweighs all of the bad stuff really. Just think, a baby you can play with – and give back when you’re done!!
A couple weeks off sounds like heaven! I wish I could do that, but alas it’s not in my stars for sure. Hang in there – enjoy your holiday and I know we’ll all be thinking of you.
December 8, 2008 at 3:57 pm #172400FanaticMemberThanks, Doris! And don’t worry… I won’t be taking the time off completely. Just from my regular job. 😉
January 8, 2009 at 12:40 am #172407DermotParticipantwell im still alive but like jeff i’ve been busy, just flew back in from manchester this morning, i tried to post from the surfbox at the airport but for some reason it wouldn’t work lol.
But that and having a nasty flu all over xmas has had me hiding under the covers also, but hope you all had a good one.
🙂

January 8, 2009 at 2:37 am #172404detn8rParticipantI guess I’ll chime in with some good news..
During the week before Christmas I was given an early present, with a new job. I’ve been applying over the last year and was finally given the opportunity for an interview. I’ll be starting the new path in my career as a Credit Analyst at American Express Canada on Jan 26. Not only am I joining a prestigious company, but a $12,500 raise isn’t too shabby either 😉
Secondly, my part time business, Pre-Paid Legal is coming off the ground, with some really exciting commission plans from the head office. And with that, I’ll be at a leadership conference next Thursday 15th through 19th in Atlanta, GA. Of course, they couldn’t please us Canadians and host it in a city like Miami or anything.. noo :p
And a few more things are falling into place for me too. After two and a half years, I’ll be getting my braces off in the next month or two which is REALLY exciting! Not only is the $7,500 investment finally paid for, but its a real confidence booster!
And as part of my new years resolution, I will be losing 50lbs this year as well as being more social, reattaching myself spiritually as well as moving out of my parents house.
2009 is going to be a big year for me — I can feel it, it’s going to be great!
