MemberFirst let me apologize if this doesn’t belong here, not sure where to post it.
I use yahoo mail. Is there any program or software that I can install that will tell me if an email that i sent has been forwarded over to someone else?
thank you,October 4, 2005 at 3:28 pm #131302Spike
MemberYou can usually just look at the header of the email. It would look something like:
Code:From: Sender ;
To: YourEmail@yahoo.com; OtherPerson@yahoo.com; Person 3 ;
CC: CarbonCopy@msn.coml; Carbon Copy 2 ;
Subject: Test E-mailThe only thing you can’t see is if someone sends a BCC (Blind Carbon Copy). Then the recipent is private.

ParticipantI do not know any program that will do that,but maybe you can check as Spike suggested ,one thing if (I do not use yahoo so I am not sure) it was forwarded as BBC (I usually do to protect my contacts privacy) that won’t help.

MemberI’m not sure i explained myself correctly. I understand if I RECEIVE an email, I can tell if others have been forwarded the copy too, i will see their addy’s as you have shown.
What I am saying is… IF I send an email to someone, say you for example. I send you an email that is private and I want it to be seen by YOUR eyes ONLY.
How can I tell if you turn around and forward my email over to someone else, say John Doe. I think there is a way to catch when someone forwards your mail on to unknown person that you don’t know. Do you know what I mean?October 4, 2005 at 6:14 pm #131301Tigerblade
Participanti dont imagine it’s possible for you to track what they do with it… once it’s out of your hands and in theirs, they can do as they like with it…
the only exception i can think of is if you’re running a business/corporate network and have access to all that information, in which you might be able to track emails. dont quote me on that though, i’d leave something like that to one of the more network-proficient members here.
my advice: dont send out emails that are that highly personal. that’s the nature of the internet – nothing is private, nothing is sacred.

MemberTigerblade is absolutely right: Once you send an e-mail to another person, it’s their property and they can do with it whatever they like. There is absolutely no way to see who they send it to.
And, Tigerblade, yes if the business has its own set of email addresses (say JohnDoe@BuisnessName.com), it’s very highly likely that they can track those emails becuase they usually run off the company’s servers. But if you’re using something like Yahoo, then you’re SOL in that area.

this is something like I am talking about, I did a search and came up with the above link. it not only tracks when the email was opened (which I don’t care about), but it says it will show if an email has been forwarded.
I’m not sure if this is a good program or not, it’s not free, and before I try it or even bother with the free trial, I was wondering if there is something better out there. -
