Cleaning out messenger contacts

Above where my friends and family list is in my messenger is a little box that usually says type a phone number or and email address and if it gets dropped down there is a list of people that i have had im’d or im’d me. Is there a way to delete people out of there. I have deleted some people from my im and address book and they still show up there.

I had a look around this and wanted a way to delete them completely but it seems you cannot

You can clean the drop down but it will keep even id’s you deleted on the search which i think is serverside based.

will have to look into it more and try and remove it completely.
