Closing main window closes cams and msg

I’m sure this question has been posed before:

When you close the main yahoo messenger window (often inadvertently) it automatically closes any open messages and cams. Incredibly annoying.

Does anyone know if there’s something in preferences or something that I’m missing that would prevent this from happening?

As it stands now, I have to minimize the main window.

Unfortunately, there’s no setting I’m aware of, although if the main Yahoo window is closed and you receive a new IM, that window will be opened without opening the main Yahoo window. Clear as mud, right? [:P]

That’s what I was afraid of – it’s so silly that they do that. It seems the only messenger program that does that.

yea that`s right….when u send messege to ur friend..and then u wanna close main window so, ur messege window get close too….
it was happaning to me but i found it myself…….
so be sure that person send u messege 1st ….

I used to have this problem but when i installed the latest version of Y! Messenger, it solved my problem.

With interesting timing, I was prompted to update my Yahoo messenger software today, which I did, and the problem no longer occurs! Took them long enough to figure that one out.

Mine works fine. Was YIM disconnected when you close the main window?

It’s in Preferences > General
uncheck the Disconnect Messenger when the main window is closed.

For the record, however it’s completely irrelevant now, the original problem was not that yahoo was getting disconnected, it was simply that the windows you had open, e.g. private messages or cams, would close when you would close (vs. minimize) the main yahoo window with ur buddy list, etc. in it.

This problem appears to have been corrected in the latest version of Yahoo! messenger.
