let’s say i’m on AIM, I’m at my computer workin on something else, so I put up an away message. i need as much space on my taskbar for other applications as i can get, so i close the buddy list window (just X it out, i’m still online). but the away message window is still up, taking up space.
is there a way to close the away message window without losing the away status? i know i could just use an idle message or something, but is there any other way? if none of this makes sense, ask and i can try to clarify it somewhat i guess

Edit you preferences, and on the Buddy List Tab, check the box that says “hide taskbar button when buddylist is minimized” then click ok. Now when you have an away message up, all you have to do is minimize it, and it will disappear off the taskbar and onto the system tray.August 22, 2003 at 4:48 pm #56712TigerbladeParticipantsweetness… thanks… thats exactly what i wanted to do… i wanted to get it off the taskbar so i’d have more room for other programs. alrighty then…

August 23, 2003 at 1:23 am #56706rockerjockMemberhow do u get the Away Message Box to come back after u have it hidden? because i ended up having to change the preferences back in order to show the Away Message Box
August 23, 2003 at 2:16 am #56707KPK102MemberYou have to click on the Running guy on the bottom right hand corner and both the buddy list and away box pop up. Then you can hit I’M back button.

well actually you have to double click… just single clicking it brings up a shortcut menu, you can click the “Show Buddy List” option from there though. and even then it doesnt show your away message again…. you still have to double click to get that to show back up
