MemberElytha
I am using something called MSGTAG. http://www.msgtag.com/home/
My main reason for doing so is when my mail becomes rather instable as sometimes mail does (I am having month long issues with mine), this notifies me when the mails are opened. This helps me on with important clients to just breathe easier that they have received my mail. MSGTAG is free, but there is one available for purchase. So far, I am happy with the free version. Just so others don’t have to feel like you are spying on them, there is a discrete message at the bottom indicating that you are being notified. The recipient doens’t have to clieck yes or no as when you send a request with other email programs.Another I have used, and liked as well, was a free program called Have They Read It Yet. http://www.webattack.com/get/readityet.html
Hope this helps. Emails can be very important and sometimes they are not reliable 100%, servers go down, and they go missing. This really helps to know.
Yours

Memberthnxs….i been on those sites….by example im using outlock express and it works good….but what about those that dont use the protocol smtp like hotmail….yahoo…maybe here could be used some code dont? or another program

MemberWhenever I send to hotmail or yahoo, those programs still function to tell me that the person has received the mail when they open to read it. If those mails no matter who receives it, or what is used to open it, receives it, I am notified. For example, I have one client not set up on the net completely yet, so, he was contacting me with a yahoo account. I always got a notification when it was read and precisely the time span from when it was sent till he opened it. Honest, MGSTAG is all you will need.

MemberOk
Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought you were concerned if you were sending TO hotmail, not FROM hotmail?
Is that it? Its for sending FROM hotmail?November 11, 2003 at 11:52 pm #53548Elytha_Ro
Memberyes…sending from hotmail…..doesnt works right???

Memberyes, with Outlook. I am surprised when you installed it, it didn’t automatically configure to use whatever mails you use there.
MSGTAG can actually be used with every account you possess on Outlook. Set it to include any or as few as you wish.

MemberHmm… there’s a good reason why Outlook and many other email clients allow you to choose whether or not a read notification may be sent out: privacy.
It doesn’t matter if there’s a warning included in the email body or not, it shouldn’t get sent unless the receiving party agrees to it. If I get emails like that, I’ll either read the emails when I’m offline, or I’ll block that person’s emails until they send normal emails.Just imagine getting a letter in the mail, and when you open the envelope, a small chip sends out a signal to the sender’s pager or cell phone so they can see that you’ve opened it… either you’ll never know about it, or you’ll read about it on the last page of the letter inside. I’m sure you’d be thrilled.
Of course this is just my personal opinion, feel free to disagree.

MemberFirst to say, I am a person that has a high regard for my privacy.
However, since I don’t open mails from strangers, I personally would be ‘thrilled’ that my friends were sent assurance that I indeed got their mails and when. Thats my personal point of view.
From a business standpoint, its important to me to feel truly sure my clients got the information I was sending them. You must have a very solid and dependable email, but apparently I don’t have that luxury. A few missed mails can lead to a business disaster. So there is some validity to having them.
Having said all that. Are there people who might use such services to help themselves “spy” on someone? Yes, I guess that is a possibility. But like all good inventions, sometimes, they are used for bad.

ParticipantI’d use it as a point of self security knowing an important email was sent, and recieved.
Theres always reasons not to do things because of the possible outcome that may happen, but if everyone followed this case the world would be nothing.
