I received this comment in the reputation section of My BigBlueBall…
I hate that “Not For Sale” banner, under EVERY post of yours. 🙁 I think I will go to options and turn that OFF at this end, so I can read threads WITHOUT all that surplus bumf wasting HEAPS of valuable screen space..
Obviously it doesn’t tell you who posted said comment, however I suspect it was Eagle_Kiwi. What do I do about it? Just leave it, or send him a PM regarding it? Or am I making a big issue out of nothing?
As far as I know, the BBB Policies state that, “we reserve the right to edit signatures if we consider them too large…” I’m assuming, “We” refers to Jeff. I’m also assuming Jeff hasn’t got a problem with my signature, or it would have been sorted by now.
To me though, it was quite a derogatory and unncessary comment.
As you don’t know for sure who made the comment, let it lie. If it happens again, talk to Jeff about it through the PM System and don’t make this a big semi-public deal. If it does happen again, Jeff should be able to deal with it as it counts as harassment – in a sense.
The best advise I can give you is to keep your cool and act like it doesn’t bother you. People only do things that bug you if they know it bugs you. As far as I can tell, he’s just looking for attention and by making such a big deal out of that negative comment, he’s getting what he wants.
Talk to Jeff in private next time and let the Administration decide. Don’t feed the troll by sending an accusation to the person you think it is. Always be sure before you do such a thing. But in the end, I highly suggest you let Administration deal with such people.
Yes, it may be unnecessary, but it’s quite a valid comment. However, if the user has a problem with signatures, they can easily disable them – as he has done. So for now, let this issue lie :).

Martin, personally, I think it’s too big, too. And wasn’t the purchase finalized anyway? :p
I prefer to browser the forums with signatures turned off for that very reason… it’s easier to read the discussions.
Warren is right… everyone is entitled to their opinion and there’s no need to confront a member because he or she doesn’t like your signature. Nothing you say could make them change their mind and start liking it.
I’m not a big fan of signatures in general. I’m ok with text signatures, because they don’t take up a lot of space and aren’t too distracting, but image… I generally don’t like them. That’s my personal preference, and I know a lot of people really, really love their signatures… which is why you have that option.
I would suggest removing the image and replacing it with text… Manchester United — NOT FOR SALE or whatever. You still get to speak your mind but without taking up quite so much of the screen.

Still, I think a negative reputation comment was uneccessary, not sure what should be done about it though…
Alright then…tell ya what I’ll do. I’ll make the image smaller instead.
Glazer owns enough to delist us from the London Stock Exchange, but there’s a whole load of stuff going on with Shareholders United (which my image links to), that would allow us to buy back the club should it ever fall out of Glazer’s hands. Anyway, we won’t get back into that one!
Once i’ve resized the image, let me know if its still too big 🙂
