Participantokay so heres whats been up with my computer.
whenever im typing somewhere; on AIM, in google search, in microsoft word ect. the open window im typing in will become inactive…as in half way through typing, ill look up and i wont be clicked on the window im trying to type in. so then i just click on it again and continue with what i was writing. its not a big deal, but its been driving me nuts and i dont know how to fix it or why its doing it.
also, i just looked at my desktop and about 10 new icons have shown up. Alien Icons, Bling Bling Icons, Cartoon and animations, celebrity news, funny movies, games, imgiant instant messenger, joystick cheats, joystick news, screen savers…are the icons. i dont know how they got there, since i havent downloaded anything new on my comp, or how to get rid of them for good!
i have both spybot and ad-aware and have run them…and unfortunatly it doesnt seem to be helping. if anyone knows how to fix these problems, it would def be very helpful!
p.s. i also get pop-ups like whoah. even when i dont have my internet browser open. :-/ grrr!

MemberDear Aman,
I’m 100% sure you got trojans and spywares in your computer. Is your spybot and ad-aware up-to-date? If not, update them. If that still won’t help, use an up-to-date antivirus and do a full system scan to remove the trojan first to stop it from downloading spywares on your computer. Next do a spyware scan. Try Webroot’s Spysweeper and Microsoft’s Antispyware. Hope this help. Come back if you still have problems.
Good luck !!!

Participanthave you tried running a virus scan? if not, be sure to do that as soon as possible. if you don’t have a virus scanner, there are several decent free scanners available. I recommend AVG.
also, try running Ad-Aware and Spybot again, but this time in safe mode. shut down your computer, then while it’s restarting hit the F8 key to take it into safe mode. (sometimes you might have to hit the F8 key a few times to make sure you get it at the right time) In safe mode, meaning only the bare system essentials are running, run those scans again and see if they pick up anything.
also, you may want to try a program called HiJackThis. run it so that it saves a log of what it finds, and then post the log here as an attachment if you’re not sure what the results mean.June 1, 2005 at 11:21 pm #122983Rusty
Member1: Run a spyware scan I suggest Microsoft Spyware(It’s free) if you don’t have one.
2: Check for viruses if you don’t have a virus scan check your computer online(It’s free) if it finds anything then you should try the free trial of McAfee for 30 days to take it off.

I agree on microsoft anti spyware.
i think you should start your computer in safe mode then run a scan to make sure.
if you know something about registry, take a look at whats running on your start up. if you don’t, go to start menu > run and type in ‘msconfig’
that should give you a list of whats running when your computer starts.
