MemberI didn’t write this message but I do agree with it and read that it was ok to use to complain to yahoo about removing the go to function.
NOW that YAHOO has decided to take away the GO TO feature… It seems i spend all my time going to rooms to find my buds.. and no chat time.. PLEASE does YAHOO have to have 237 rooms with 200 of the rooms with 2 ppl… YAHOO has really screwed up a great program.. and whose privacy are you trying to help? PPL can still go to room after room and find their friends but that is so time consuming.. BRING BACK THE GO TO FEATURE that made YAHOO what it was .. a step above all the other chat programs… I for one am very disappointed.. Why doesn’t YAHOO do something about my privacy.. and keep the BOTs from IM ing me with COME VIEW MY WEBCAM .. IM HOT COME SEE ME.. NOW THAT IS A PRIVACY ACT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.. NOT THE GO TO FEATURE THAT ALLOWS FRIENDS TO FIND FRIENDS.. AS FOR THE ABUSE… THE ABUSED SHOULD STAY OUT OF CHAT OR BLOCK THE PERSON… That is why YAHOO has a BLOCK feature to protect a PERSONS PRIVACY… Abuse is also found in the ROOM BOMBS that YAHOO still allows.. because the person I REPORTED is still in the rooms and continues to send the BOMBS.. that is worse than the GO TO feature.. so again I say: BRING BACK THE GO TO FEATURE.
This is the number you can call to lodge a complaint… after you listen press 1 then 2 then 3 until you get a HUMAN.
the number is 1- 866- 562- 7219Tthe email that given to lodge a complain to is:
EXPERIENCE@YAHOO-INC.COMI hope some others do some complaining too.
Thanks

Keymastercomplaining to yahoo will do no good for this feature. They took it away. Its like trying to get java chat to come back

MemberIt’s completely pointless. Yahoo has already made up their minds.

MemberI think I read on that buddy-spy forum that you can still use it if you have an old version of yahoo version 5 or 6? I’m not sure though, but you guys are more than welcome to try it and tell us if it works.

KeymasterYou people should be complaining about the bots in chat, not just a stupid goto feature. Whats the point on trying to get thousands of people to complain about a feature in chat and not fix everything about chat.
Chat is dead right now almost all ids in chat are bots, and many rooms in chat are listed but can’t enter them.
chat.yahoo.com is the worst service yahoo offers.

MemberBesides….if you know you buddys are around…send a PM or IM on messenger and coordinate a time and place to meet…it only takes a little bit of planning. 🙂

ParticipantLike most people have mentioned, people should be spending more time sending/making complaints about the bots.. I have gone into rooms that had, say, 45 people, probably at the most 5 of them were real, the rest were bots.
It doesn’t really bother me that they took the GO TO/Follow user options away, I never really used it and had found quite a few times where people would use it to follow me to certain rooms (when I didn’t want them, too).
Like Oreo said, just IM those certain people, set up a certain room you could meet in most often or something..

MemberKeep this in your mind, Yahoo Chat is a free services, not like paltalk or other paid services. And Yahoo more focused to the other service that you have to pay Yahoo like small business, auction, ect.
So I don’t think Yahoo will put back the Go To option, and if you saying about call the Customer Service, good luck then, I tried that option many times, ’till I figured out that I’m just wasting my time and my airtime.

KeymasterIf you want to complain about chat. this is what you should say. it would get them to look at the chat rooms.
“I am not able enter the chatrooms ChatterBox, ShowBiz Central, and The Press Box in the voice chat catagory. An error pops up saying
Chat Error: Room is Disabled.
I am using messenger version 8.0.0.716.”Use this messenger feedback that I provided, Chat feedback does not work. Sign in to Yahoo!
Note: You must lie about the error that pops up, if you say the error is “Chat Error, Create Room” all you will get from yahoo is, creating user chat rooms is disabled.

Complaining about either will do you no good. Yahoo believes the Go To User
as a privacy issue, so you won’t be seeing that anymore. As for complaining
about the bots in Yahoo Chat, well, would also be pointless. Someone with no
knownledge of making bot could make at least 20 to 50 bots an hour. As for
the more advanced user, they could make over 400 bots in an hour. Mind you
that’s only the amount one user could make. So say 1000 user that had fair
knownledge on creating bots all made bots for an hour, they would have
almost 400,000 bots that could be used to enter chat rooms. Now I am sure
that more then a 1000 people on the internet make bots. Maybe not as many
as 400 an hour but still the fact remains that Yahoo would have to stop allowing
people to make new names, go threw all of the current usernames that are
already made to see which ones could be bots and which ones are actual users.
Even if Yahoo did so it would take time to do it, and at some point they would
have to alllow people to create new usernames again thus meaning people
could then again start to make bot names again and the cycle start all over again.September 8, 2006 at 11:22 pm #151849Jeff Hester
KeymasterI know that tim, Just saying if you want bug the **** out of yahoo, they might get fed up with complaints about chat, and do something about it.

MemberYes that might work, however it would have to be on a large scale.
Meaing unless a lot of people complain there will be nothing done. Also say they did get fed up, more then likely one of two things will
happen. One: they don’t allow any new names to be created more a
short term fix or Two: they remove the chat rooms completely.Would be nice not to have a room full of bots, but there will always
be people that are going to make them.September 9, 2006 at 6:37 am #151872imported_guess

MemberYou have to understand how the messenger works. Just about every thing you
do with the messenger the Yahoo Server is always the next step in the process.
When you send a pm the data is sent and the Yahoo Server gathers that data.
Next the Yahoo Server parses the data, create a new packet and sends it to
the person you sent the pm to. The same applys to the Go To User function.
You select one of your usernames ( if you have more then one ) then type the
name of the person you wish to go to in the same chat room. Once the data
is sent the Yahoo Server then gets it, parses the data, check if the user is
actually in a chat room and then one of two things happen. One you are taken
to the chat room the user is in or two you are told the user is not in
any chat rooms. Now the thing that has happened is simple. Yahoo programed
the Yahoo Server to ingore the data for the Go to User function. So more
then likely it wouldn’t matter what version of messenger you are using. The
data is always going to be ignored from the Go to User function.September 10, 2006 at 12:37 am #151881No-Way
MemberWhat I’m doing is cracking the bot IDs when they get into my regular chat room, so far I crack arround 1,200 bot IDs, and I already deactived those bot IDs.
But like tim say, its hard for Yahoo to take care this bot issue, since those bot IDs running on proxies, even if the proxies get banned by Yahoo, they always can get the fresh proxies to run they bot IDs again. The only thing you can do to minimize this bots problem, is using the 3rd Party chat clients, like YahElite, Y!mLite, Yazak, they provide more options, like auto ignore, clone detector, wild card, so you don’t have to ignore those bot IDs manually.
Hope this helping.
