I’d suggest running a virus and adware scan (AVG free and Ad-aware will do).
But to actually solve the problem, you’ll need to find the entries in msconfig that throw these errors.
Go to Start > Run > MSCONFIG > Startup (tab) to open the MSCONFIG utility. Here you will have a list of programs that run when the computer starts, you can uncheck the box to disable an item. Opting for something to not run at startup will not disable the program, and you will still be able to launch it from the start menu.

May 11, 2008 at 7:41 am #169251PhilipModeratorSo did it work?
May 11, 2008 at 5:09 pm #169256Holdem185MemberYes, there was a checkbox with both of the error names, you unclick it and they go away

If you use the free versions of some programs you may have to tell them to manually update their definitions (for example Ad-Aware.) Your AVG must be properly configured to go get updates as well.
If even Ad-Aware isn’t finding anything at all on your machine, it makes me wonder. I’d suggest trying SuperAnti Spyware (available on Filehippo) to see what it finds. It doesn’t auto update but it does remind you every time you run it.
I sounds more like a virus or spyware to me…..

May 13, 2008 at 11:04 am #169253Doris KenneyParticipantI found several threads listing the problem of a dll not being a valid image. In almost all of the cases, it was suggested spyware, malware or trojans are the cause. Aside from updating virus and spyware software and running it (preferably in safe mode) it was suggested to run a Hijack This log and analyze it carefully.
If you dont have HJT you can download it here, then close your browser and run it. If you are unfamiliar with how to read the results, you can PM me with the results *copied and pasted*
(please do not attach a file as I won’t open them) into the PM. It might take 2 or even 3 PM’s to copy and past the entire thing in.
Please let me know if you need assistance with this, or what results you find.
I might mention, while it’s best to only have one virus scanner on your machine and running at any given time, I personally find that no one single solution does it all for spyware and malware. I’d strongly suggest either trying some of the free versions (you can always remove them later) and/or doing some of the online scans for malware. I personally have 3-4 soyware/malware programs I run on a weekly basis (tho I don’t run them at the same time, nor do I leave them running all the time) and each one tends to find different things.
