How long do you leave your PC/Laptop running for on average?
September 26, 2004 at 3:50 am #37624DavidParticipantI take my laptop to school with my every day, so it’s uptime never gets above 2 days (I leave it on on the weekends).
My PC says off 99% of the time because I don’t need it anymore, sad to waste that system. :/
I have 4 servers (3 Linux, 1 Windows) They stay on 24/7, I only reboot them if I really have to.
September 26, 2004 at 4:22 am #37630Dr KimbleParticipantI take my laptop to school every day as well, but it is Win 95 and dial up modem, so I mostly turn it on when I take notes and off when I don’t. My PC on the otherhand stays on for aboot a day at a time, while I am at school it is off, but weekends it runs all day.
September 26, 2004 at 1:24 pm #37627MartinBradleyMemberI voted for 3-4 days.
I usually leave my computer on overnight, as I download alot of films, leaving it on overnight is the easiest way to get them without being interrupted by them.
Pushes up the electricity bill, but hey, I don’t pay it.:p
September 26, 2004 at 3:34 pm #37623detn8rParticipantI never turn it off muwhahahahah. Windows should be burning my fan out soon I’m sure.
September 26, 2004 at 4:22 pm #37637LucifinaMemberI hate shutting down and booting up so it stays on for as long as I don’t have to shut down, duh. I also am always connected to aim so I get all my messages, hehehheh. *IM JUNKIE*:D
September 26, 2004 at 4:22 pm #37622Jeff HesterKeymasterMine stays on for like 2 hours max a day. I don’t really need a computer except for writing assignments and occassionally instant message and check email.
September 26, 2004 at 4:36 pm #37631Red DevilMemberI only have my computer on when I need it, so it’s probably on about 2-3 hours a day.
September 26, 2004 at 4:50 pm #37633Crazy PenguinMemberIm teh same as Red devil, I only turn it on when I need it… usually its on most of the evening, what with the rest of my family members going on it…
September 26, 2004 at 5:04 pm #37626ladie_vennomMemberI keep mine on all day and turn it off at night.
September 26, 2004 at 5:38 pm #37632AwesomeSauceParticipantMe and my folks usually leave the computers on all day(because they’re almost constantly being used) and turn off the computers at night just before we go to bed, and turn them back on in the morning, or as soon as we need them. Except for Saturday-night, when we leave it on so it installs the automatic updates in the middle of the night. 3:00 AM, to be more exact.
September 26, 2004 at 7:09 pm #37634SpikeMemberHeh…it took me this long to reply to my own post…sad…Oh well. Anyway…I leave my laptop on for at least 5 days at a time, becuase my computer is so slow it takes it 10 mins just to start up. So I leave it on, and if I go somewhere, I lock it. (In WinXP Only (maybe 2000…?) , hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, then press Lock Computer. Requires Windows Login Password to unlock.) And that satisfies me, becuase I type in my password, then my computer is just right there, no start-up hassles. 🙂
September 27, 2004 at 12:14 am #37636QuiksilverMemberyou can get really carried away with computers but I never leave it on for more than a day…its called sleep…and….saving power? umm yeah I think that’s it but im on it like all day…but I turn it off….i think ive only left it on through the night once or twice…but I love my computer 🙂 don’t make me get no sleep and stay on this thing 24/7 … even though I already do when I got nothing else to do…haha…

December 14, 2004 at 8:23 pm #37640AqeelParticipantI start my computer at night about 8:00 P.M and shutdown, infact I use Win XP so hibernate it at 1:00 A.M. All that time I stay online while in the morning before going to college I check my e-mail at 8:30 A.M

You can also try hitting the Windows Key and L.
