Heh…it took me this long to reply to my own post…sad…Oh well. Anyway…I leave my laptop on for at least 5 days at a time, becuase my computer is so slow it takes it 10 mins just to start up. So I leave it on, and if I go somewhere, I lock it. (In WinXP Only (maybe 2000…?) , hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, then press Lock Computer. Requires Windows Login Password to unlock.) And that satisfies me, becuase I type in my password, then my computer is just right there, no start-up hassles. 🙂
You can also try hitting the Windows Key and L.
Under XP or higher only. 2000 requires Ctrl+Alt+Del+Space bar.
December 14, 2004 at 9:11 pm #37629TigerbladeParticipanti used to leave mine on a lot longer, but lately i’ve been leaving it off more…. partly because i’m not online with trillian as much anymore. my computer is my jukebox though, so whenever i’m in my room studying or whatever, I need my music playing, meaning its on.
short answer is, its on about as much as its off

my thoughts exactly. I usually reboot when my computer is running slow, but the “life span” of my computer at a time is 3-4 days. I also turn it off when I go home on the weekends from college…which is very rare…
i’m always connected too…when I lived on campus, I was hooked up to the university’s system or whatever its called. now that I have my own apartment, I am always connected with cable modem.

Heh, you’re right. But that’s also to switch a user if multiple users are enabled. But I only have one user on my PC…me, so I’ll be using this a lot more. Thanks!

March 18, 2005 at 2:16 am #37639MrEggsaladParticipantI have it on during the later day (Have school) and off during the night. I don’t like keeping it on for like ever. I use it so much that it kinda needs a rest LOL.
