MemberEverytime I turn my computer on standby it turns itself back on with me doing nothing. Everytime I put it on hibernate it wakes itself up without me doing anything. Last night, I put my computer to shut down, and in the middle of the night, I wake up and find it on.
What can I do to make this stop?
I have a pop-up thing for WinFixer2005 is that related to this?
Thanks for any help or answers.

MemberHi there! I’m sorry to hear about this. I think you might have some things mixed up. Standby is where you move your mouse and it wakes up and hibernate takes everything in your memory, puts it on the hard drive and shuts it down. How old is your computer? i’d definately say a faulty switch is a good possibility…. or maybe a faulty power supply? I wouldnt take my word on it being the exact cause, since I havent had this happen before, but it’s something to consider. Good luck!

If I put my computer on standby and i dont do anything it recovers itself. If I put it on hibernate it wakes itself up without me turning the computer on. The only way for me is to shut down all the way down, and I am used to hibernating.
Does that make it clearer?
I got this in Feb. 2005. This is a Gateway.

MemberWould there be any damage when you shut down it, and to pull the plug?

I’ll do a virus scan and see what comes up, that might be the problem.
