ParticipantWhat's going on in your area? Any concerts you plan to see?
I'm going to go see System of a Down/The Mars Volta and Apocalyptica later this month. How's about you?

MemberWell, we just saw some great live music at the pub tonight…sometimes local bands “ROCK!” This was a great Irish band that played traditional, then some music from Cape Breton, they even threw in one from Brazil! T'was cool indeed!

I made a mix-cd for a coworker called “Songs about really culture-y stuff! (for California's lack thereof)”. It's full of really great stuff, like Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, The Elders, The Young Dubliners, The Mahones and the Bloody Irish Boys. 🙂

MemberI go to lots of concerts, my fave so far must have been when I saw Robbie Williams in Manchester there were 60K there and me and hubby were about 8 from the front. It was sooo hot though but water was at hand all night, think I lost about 8 lbs that day ouch so cramped. Loved Nickleback seen them twice had to go back for more… but they tend to throw lager at you which makes you kind of sticky!! oh and RHCP were excellent too, I just love concerts, the atmosphere is just great!! My big wish would have been to see Queen they must have been amazing, was meant to go when I was about 17 but could not get tickets … but could not afford it and seems silly now as it was about £5 oh noooo :0)

MemberI currently have no money, since I spent the rest of my bank savings buying stuff for my new apartment at school. Buuuutttttt, they have series starting at school called “Concerts on the Lawn” where student bands play each week on the lawn.
A friend of mine's band played at one of our local bars across the street, didn't get a chance to see them though. There's always locals around bars and pubs like Oreo said. I just haven't had the time to go out and see them yet.

Participant*raises her hand* If all things go according to plan, I'll be catching a Green Day concert. *shrug* I doubt it, but we'll see.
Heh, the only time I've ever been to a concert was last year when I got in to watch Arlo Guthrie. *purr* Arlo Guthrie = *Thumbs up like Whoa…like Joey Laurence “Whoa”*
But yeah, our city does have little concerts every sunday evening during the summer. Every night the band and genre changes. They can be pretty good…and you can hear them from my childhood house since we lived so close to the civic center. Great fun.

MemberI was lucky enough to see U2 a few months ago at the City of Manchester Stadiuim. Without a doubt the best concert i've ever seen. The Bravery and Snow Patrol were the supporting acts and U2 played a 2 1/2 hour set when they finally came on. They did a lot of the new album but most of the classics too. Im not even sure how many people were there. The stands were filled up (I think the stadium seats about 40,000) and the football pitch itself was full… It was insane. 😀 The only problem was that after standing for 5 hours, my bad knee started to complain… It was worth it though.
I've also seen Oasis a few years ago, with Richard Ashcroft (from the Verve) supporting them. And I saw Rooster in a tiny underground club before they were famous… didn't really know who they were when I saw them, but they were pretty good.
I'll be moving to Sheffield soon to go to Uni, and I think a lot of bands play the Student Union there. I know that Bloc Party and Bowling for Soup are… unfortunetly, Bloc Party has already sold out. I'll have to try to get tickets somehow.

KeymasterI saw Cake last month, and have been talking to a buddy about seeing (gasp!) Jethro Tull up in Hollywood in November.
I need to make a note to schedule a few more concerts on my calendar!

MemberCough cough. Umm. Alright guys. Dont be jealous. Dont cuss yourself for not chosing RIT. But I know you all will be jealous because Jason Mraz, Jon Stewart and Howie Day are alll coming to RIT on October 7th, October 8th and September 28th respectively!!!!!!! Jon Stewart is already sold out. I bought two tixs for Jon Stewart and Jason Mraz and one for Howie Day.
Jon Stewart is offcourse great.
Jason Mraz is new and has a lotttt of potential. I love his song “Life is wonderful”. It will be awesome if he sings that live!!
Howie Day – Listened and saw him on MTV couple of times, not my type but hey, it will be a great time to be with friends though 😉During summer, Lynnyrd Skynyrd came to our college, and I got free tickets for those since I was one of the “STAFF” members working there for their security;)
The concerts will take place in our Gym's indoor stadium which has a capacity of 8000 people. Since I already work in the gym, its like watching these guys in my own home. It will be a great thrilling experience :D:D
We had Ludacris and Kayne West come here last year this time though.

Jason Mraz isn't that new. He's been around for like 2 years. Haven't you heard his song “The Remedy?” He also sucks in concert. He came and performed for Camp Jeep at Jack Frost this summer, it was free for me b/c I was there working. Maybe he just had a bad show. But he sounded like crap to me…
I wouldn't mind seeing Skynyrd though. I love their stuff! And I'd like to see CCR, but who knows if anyone from that band is still alive. I LOVE southern classic rock bands!
Luda and Kanye, I like them both. Wish I had tix for them…

Participanta few weeks ago some of my buddies and i went to go see Limbeck perform with Steel Train, and it was an AMAZING show. great stuff, i highly recommend both bands.
unfortunately, now that i'm back at school full time (and my school is in the middle of nowhere – cornfields all around), probably no more concerts in the immediate forseeable future.
