MemberI’m using Gaim 2.0 Beta 3 and have been for months.
My gaim crashed this afternoon, and continues to do so, but only if I log into MSN.
It connects to AIM, ICQ, Yahoo fine, but crashes on any of my MSN accounts.
AppName: gaim.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: libglib-2.0-0.dll
ModVer: 2.6.6.0 Offset: 0004117dMark

MemberTopic split. I know your problem was very similar to his, but there’s a good chance it could have a different solution.
Now, have you tried the usual things, trying to connect with Trillian or Miranda, and trying to connect with Windows Live Messenger? Do any of those crash or have problems?

MemberBoth GAIM 1.5 and the last BETA crushed as soon as I logged in to MSN.
ICQ / Google Talk works fine.

ParticipantYeah, same happens when I try to connect using GAIM, However, I have found that Trillian works fine. Maybe just beta bugs?

MemberMSN may have changed their protocol (possibly for WLMY!M integraion), thus screwing up Gaim. For now, just don’t use Gaim until they release an update to fix the problem.
On a side note, I’ve had no trouble connecting with beta 3, but my username is on a different domain (@bigblueball.com), so maybe that has something to do with it?
Edit: 2,000th post. w00t.

ParticipantWell, is your name set up for the interoperability stuff? If so, that may let you still use it (or would be my guess). For some reason my stuff wasn’t set up right for that, and now I guess I can’t connect with GAIM? Trillian works fine for me though. But, I would assume like Spike said, new server stuff.
EDIT: Found how to get it so you can actually disable MSN so it doesn’t crash. There are two ways, either tell it with a firewall that it can’t access the internet, letting you disable MSN then, or have something like Trillian open (worked for me), and keep all logged in while you try to, then as it’s handling the problems with screen names on in two places, disable it. To disable, go to Accounts >> MSN >> Disable

MemberMy username is also not a hotmail one and MSN connects fine using MSN Messenger.
Took me a while to find it had split topics 😉

MemberMark: Log in with Windows Live Messenger and set up your name yo use the new Yahoo! Interoperability. That should fix the problem.

ParticipantWell, for me anyways it seems to be up again. But yeah, I’d go and do the interoperability thing just to make sure it will work with the server.

MemberIt must of been some sort of glitch yesterday as I’ve saw this problem before and actually had it myself… but I switched to Windows Live & AIM Classic now, and because of that I don’t really feel like switching back.

Looks like I will have to wait for an update.
Problem I have now is I can’t connect to all my MSN accounts at same time, as I try keep work, friends & family, company ones on separate accounts.
My brother is using trillion and he can still log in to all his, might give that ago.
