My friend keeps getting booted from Messenger. Every 10 minutes or so, she’ll have to log back in. She’s tried deleting and re-installing Messenger. Any suggestions? (She’s not in chat, just talking in PMs).

If she is being booted she’d either get a bunch of PMs, or lots of various different invites. If she isn’t, it’s a Yahoo server issue most likely. If she is indeed being booted, there is a couple things she can try.
She can use an ALG program to integrate with Yahoo! Messenger (examples being YTK Pro and Y!TunnelPro). My recommendation there would be YTK Pro, since it has the most (and best) anti-boot options.
Or, she can try a 3rd party chat client like Y!mLite, YahELite, and Yahaven. I’d recommend using Y!mLite or Yahaven, since they have the most anti-boot solutions at the moment out of the 3rd party chat clients/.
Now, what is your friend’s internet connection speed? A person’s “bootability resistance” with the programs mentioned above depends on the person’s internet speed.

She knows about Meebo, Yahelite, etc., but because none of them have all the options that Messenger does (message archiving, conferencing, etc.) and because she doesn’t want to download more unnecessary programs to her computer, she really just wants to use Messenger.
June 24, 2007 at 4:33 am #161983imported_Ven0mMemberWell, it sounds to me like a Yahoo server issue, or possibly an issue with a router or a firewall blocking a port.
Has she tried using a secondary ID to see if it happens?
