Heep
MemberHey,
Please accept my apologies if this has been answered – I tried a search but couldn’t find a definite answer.
For the past few days now, both my roommate and I have been having major problems with AIM and MSN frequently disconnecting and then immediately reconnecting. Both of us will be able to message fine, then we start lagging, and then we get disconnected. This happens every few minutes. After seeing several threads all over the internet about other people having this problem, I’ve noticed the majority are using Linksys wireless routers…as are we. I’m connected through a network cable, however my roommate is using the wireless feature.
The only semi-reasonable answer I’ve seen to the problem sounds a little “out there”, but is possible I suppose. In laymans terms (since I don’t really understand it well), I’ve read that it seems it’s too hot out. Everyone that’s having this problem has been going through a weather heat spell, and apparently it’s affecting the stability of the internet lines or something like that. We too have had a very very hot past few days, however I can’t imagine that being the sole problem. Does anyone else have any other ideas, perhaps ones I might be able to do something about?
Thanks in advance. 🙂

MemberThis is caused by interuption between the main computer and the wireless computer. A wall can do it.. Especially if their far distances apart. I walked past my dad’s computer once and it disconnected.. so Lol its just normal interuption.

Membermy computer can connect to three or four links, because people in my neighborhood have linksys too. so when my dad’s internet crashes, it auto-connects to another. Its awesome. But I still get disconnected because of AimRes problems.

ParticipantYou should call and ask your internet provider because i’m pretty sure its not because of the network. This happens to my friend, and she moved her laptop next to the computer with the wireless network and it still happened. But it stops after a while for like a month and it happens again for like a few days. It happens on the computer with the internet connection also, so im sure it is not because of the network. Maybe it is data lost, and your internet provider should be able to fix it.

MemberI had this same issue. I called my ISP (SBC Yahoo! DSL) and discovered it was something wrong with their lines and that they were in the process of fixing them.

MemberIt has nothing to do with your ISP.. it’s either a cause of a router or the port number that your connecting to the AIM server.
