I just installed MSN live because my friend was saying how good it is. So I download it install it and then sign in. it all works fine.
then I look at my contact list. now at any given time i have 100+ people online.
In all of my sub catagories it only showed about 10 offline contacts on it and about 2 online contacts (some of them 0 online contacts) WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CONTACTS! I use msn for many things. I deal with alot of people all around the world and instead of picking up the phone msn is free. I dont care if this messenger shows any of my offline contacts I would just like to know i can see all of my online ones.
i tried to find the msn I used to have to download. but the only links I could find was for this stupid new messenger.
even if someone could give me a link to the newest messenger that isnt live or isnt a beta.
thanks in advanced
July 17, 2006 at 4:56 pm #148228snoixMemberalso thought I should say. when I hover my mouse over the msn man it says ‘connection error’
and above my msn messenger window it says
‘Due to a connection problem, changes you make might not be applied to other computers you use’
July 17, 2006 at 5:52 pm #148222leskw06MemberHey,
I’m also having the same problem in that I upgraded as it said and when I signed into the new messanger its now only coming up with some of my contact lists.
I’ve tried to find msn messanger 7.5 to reinstall it but its no where on the msn.co.uk site. Can anyone please advise how to get our contact list up.
Thanks in advance

I’ve got some of my contact list up on the new messanger but I havn’t got them all. Have I to be patient and wait for msn to contect to the server to get all of the contacts??

July 18, 2006 at 12:30 am #148231LindalouMemberJust installed WLM on both labtop and PC, and got the wierdest result.
On the Labtop I installed both WLM and MSN Plus, and everything was working fine: 6 online, 1 mobile and 43 offline users (normal)PC: Installed both WLM and MSN Plus: 3 online, 1 mobile and 23 offline users.
Tried logging on,switching mashines, and it seems the labtop just does’nt show all users.
Checked all settings in both WLM and Plus, and it seems the same..
Any ideas ?

July 18, 2006 at 9:04 am #148232MerlyMemberI’m having the exact same problem, usually I have 140ish people on my list, when I logged in yesterday (and today) I have Zero and it’s also asking me if I want to allow people to send messages to my mobile device ??? (MSN is on my laptop)
I’ve sent in a ticket to Microsoft to see whats what but I’ve a feeling they’ve screwed something up somewhere as nothing’s changed on my machine and by the look of things I’m not the only person with the problem (thankfully)
Anyone with any ideas please let us know 🙂
July 18, 2006 at 9:08 am #148233MerlyMemberOn a side note, I logged in with Web Messenger and all my contacts are there, so it’s definetly something up with Windows Live Messenger.

July 18, 2006 at 3:36 pm #148240roycruseMemberI too have this problem after switching laptops – I reinstalled windows from scratch and when i installed WLM – I have a very limited list of contacts and sometimes very long sign in times – I also get crashes everynow and again – whith the standard report this error to microsoft dialogue…
Has no one found a solution to this – its driving me insane…
July 18, 2006 at 3:46 pm #148241sparksyMemberI have the exact same problem, used to have over 100 contacts on my list, then after an exceedingly long time signing in, the message “due to a connection problem, changes you make might not be applied to other computers you use”. And when I click on the link in the error message it brings up “how to send an instant message”… maybe Microoft are trying to poke fun at me, seeing as they’ve taken all my contacts. Hopefully this is just a server issue, and it’ll be back up in a day or two.
I too can see all my contacts on the web-based messenger, so they’re not all gone… it’s just something to do with Windows Live Messenger. Was a very good program before this started happening…
July 18, 2006 at 4:40 pm #148242ozkar29MemberSame problem here…
Eteeeeeeeeeernal wait to sign in.
No contacts (or 10 out of hundreds…)
Try and try again, same results…
July 18, 2006 at 4:51 pm #148226LLXerxesMemberIt looks like an issue with WML connecting to the server. When you only have a partial contact list (raises hand), if you mouse over the system tray icon, it says ‘Connection Error’.
Interesting.July 18, 2006 at 4:55 pm #148224leskw06MemberLLXerxes wrote:It looks like an issue with WML connecting to the server. When you only have a partial contact list (raises hand), if you mouse over the system tray icon, it says ‘Connection Error’.
