Controversy is swirling around the author of StuffPlug, a plug-in for Patchou’s popular Messenger Plus! add-on for MSN Messenger. On his blog, Chris Boulton asks the question, can we really trust a programmer that is known to have created a flooder, a password stealer, and had his hands in other nefarious activities?

Why wait till now to say something? If TheBlasphemer was that bad why not go ahead and say something a long time ago. On the msgplus forums seems like they got into a argument and Chris Boulton did this out of anger but I don’t know you go and look at the msgplus forums and see what you think. I really don’t care what he has done in the past. Most people have lied to someone at least once in their lifetime does that mean everything that comes out their mouth is lie no. Allot of people use p2p and download songs and other stuff which can be considered as stealing but just cause they use p2p does that means they go around stealing from stores no. From that article if what they say is true it would appear that Patchou has made cracks and keygens, but people trust him. We all have stuff in our past that is not good. I think Chris Boulton is running his mouth for more reasons than just letting us now about TheBlasphemer. I like stuffplug and will continue to use it. If there is anything bad in stuffplug I am sure it will get reported and make news on several sites just like it does with any other software. I have not heard of any sites or anyone saying stuffplug is stealing or giving any of your info out to anyone. Till that happens and is proven I will keep using stuffplug.
It is certainly something to think about. I personally don’t believe the plug-in has any ill-intent, and yes I have installed it. Of course, knowing the programmers history might have disuaded me from even trying it in the first place. Although, I must say that everyone deserves a second-chance. Of course if the many MsgPlus users trust is in fact broken in the future because of this plugin, I think this programmer will not have a very bright future in this area.
