It’s 4th time in this year when my browser had been hijacked by the trojen ‘Cool WebSearch’. And every time I ended installing my OS once again. Is there any removel tool for ‘Cool WebSearch’. So that I may get rid of it…..
December 2, 2004 at 9:35 pm #106937OreoMemberHave you tried Ad-aware or Spybot search & destroy? I think it was spy boy that got rid of cool search for me, and it has a way for you to “immunize” your machine against some bad products. You may also want to check your IE settings and make them a little bit more strict. I’ll edit this message and get you the link.
EDIT: Here they are…I just searched an old post I made with the links. 🙂
Just click on them and you’ll be on your way. Spybot mentions donations, you can if you want to be nice, but you can still download it without donating.
Spybot Search & DestroyDecember 2, 2004 at 10:01 pm #106939kron_19792000MemberHey ageel
If your problem is Cool websearch and if spybot and adaware do not get rid of it you can down load CWShredder, you can get it at

You do not have to reinstall your OS each time you get infected.
If you still have a problem post back.
You could try changing your browser, that will solve the problem.December 2, 2004 at 10:56 pm #106935DJHyperbyteMemberChanging to Opera will definitely put an end to your problems.
December 3, 2004 at 5:18 am #106940AqeelParticipantFriends!! First of all thanks alot for the links and replies. Adaware is already installed on my pc, now i’m going to try the other ones. Let’s see what … and this time “I’m not going to reinstall my OS”.:(
December 3, 2004 at 5:27 am #106941AqeelParticipantWith 7 scans of Adaware and 2 of CWShredder I had got rid of “Cool WebSearch” :)but still now I’m infected by a pop-up, in small intervals a popup appears of some porn site. Tell me to remove this script. Adaware is not working right in this term.
December 3, 2004 at 5:42 am #106942AqeelParticipantI have 256 MB RAM installled on my PC, whenever these adds appears my RAM goes below 30 MB weather I’m working or the PC is idle. System slows down too much. I had installed Adaware, Spybot and AdSubtract. But still now… I’m just seeing porn, casino and free survey adds.

I suggest you start in safe mode and make a virus and spyware check again. See if that helps.December 3, 2004 at 1:41 pm #106936DJHyperbyteMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by DJHyperbyteChanging to Opera will definitely put an end to your problems.
I didn’t say that because I benefit from you using Opera, I say it because it’s true. My Internet Explorer on this PC got infected with some spyware/adware crap also. It became really slow, still uses massive amounts of CPU if I just moved my mouse over the window. I thought I would end up reinstalling my computer for the third time because some website messes up my browser, but I ended up picking another browser. I haven’t reinstalled this PC for almost two years now.
December 3, 2004 at 7:04 pm #106943AqeelParticipantUmmmmm… Thanks for the advice of not posting the posts in a row, I’ll do care of it Deadeye.:) And DJHyperbyte you are extremly right, I’ll have to change my browser. Internet Explorer is under attack by all kinds of spy & adware but others are quite safe. I’m going to try both Mozillla and Opera.;)
