Keymastersaha_m, no cross posting allowed here. One message is adequate. I’ve taken the liberty of deleting your duplicate posts.
These features sound a bit scary. Do I want someone tracking me without my permission? Do I want to get spammed by someone broadcasting IM messages to everyone? I’m not too sure.

MemberWhat language would you be developing this tool in ? #2 has been possible for quite a while now and can/will be misused. #3 sounds like a stalking option which would only give you general status of their online presence and virtually no hard-to-obtain info; let alone wouldn’t normally be used for legit purposes. #4 is called a mass pm and there are programs out there that let you mass pm people in chat without even being on your buddy list. #5 could be an offline message and you could have archiving enabled to read it later. PM text logging and chatroom text logging isn’t new. Be more specific with what you are going to try to create. These features wouldn’t be helpful to me. Sorry. Maybe to others though.

MemberSasha….I’d have to agree with Jeff and Pitbull….and as you can see from “coolguy” poeple are going to and want to misuse things. I really don’t think that someone tracking me and how long I have been online is a very pleasant thought. Besides which, what if someone else in my family was using the PC and messenger connected….it would not even give you accurate info. I just don’t see how a tool like that would be useful to a regular, legitimate user of Yahoo!. However, you must have some talent to be able to come up with some programs…. maybe you could develop one to ring an alarm when someone is trying to view a webcam w/o permission or when the same person tries over and over to get another’s ID. I would suggest that you look around these forums and see what the average user is complains/is worried about, then develop a program for that. Good luck!

2. Monitor and track ur buddy when , how long they are online, get
report out of it.Hmmm… I think the word “monitor” should be replaced with “Stalking” . As in “Stalking the people you are obsessed with, when and how long they are online and get a report.
A cool feature of such programs however, would be an IP revealer. Now I know everyone’s going to say “oooh. thats bad. Thats invasion of privacy” but I do want to know the IP of people who message me, juust as I have a caller ID installed to know who is calling me. If a person annoys me, I want their IP to report them. To hell with their privacy. MY [/b]peace of mind is more important.
Anyway, big no to your stalking tool. Make it helpful, not hurtful (lame, but rhymes :))

MemberThis is interesting, I have seen saha_m post this in another forum a while back, asking about if some features could be achieved, which I correctly answered they could not be.
Searching for online users was taken out a long time ago, and there is no way to search for users broadcasting cam, in voice etc…
You can only use the member directory (for members who chose to be listed) to search on a few criterian.
The only way this could be achieved is for a bot to go room by room keeping a track of each user, which would be banned instantly by Yahoo! and is a breach of everyone’s privacy.
These features are only useful for direct spamming, or other abuse.

when yahoo messenger first introduced its chat client, i was part of a test with a program/ plug in that offered a dozen extra features…..
plugged into your yahoo calendar, mail etc…. offered a reminder service, and my favorite tool.. offered a *when* command….stock quotes, bookmarks, ….much much more..
you pmmed the personal assistant tool… and queried *when nhyrvana* and got the last times logged in and out on yahoo…..
major issues tho.. so yahoo dropped it…. main issue? not sure….
but it failed to see at least ONE server all the time….. so if i logged in…. and was on cs6…. and that time the personal assistant didnt see cs6…. heh….. then i was invisable…..
it was nice because invisable status didnt affect the tool and in the last version it was limited to your buddy list only…….
i suspect the reason it went poof wasrelated to the same reasons they killed the nobuddy tool….. legal / privacy issues….
if you can truly develop a third party plug in or tool that can….Quote:quote: Monitor and track ur buddy when , how long they are online, get
report out of it.great! keep me posted….
edits self….. am assuming here this would be an opt in.. cause liek they said above….. not for missuse….
