Hey, Whats up?
I was wondering if anyone could directly help me with making a counter to put in my profile.
I know it can be done, I know a dude that uses one. Althought he wont tell me how he did it, He told me to learn perl, which i have been doing. I am still very confused with directories, and being new to perl I am thinking that I should’nt be treating the counter as cgi because it is located locally on my machine.( but I know of no other way to count file accesses.
Please help me.November 1, 2002 at 2:55 pm #99732rustedtightMemberThere are many sites devoted to perl your chances of finding a fix is vastly improved if you used them.
Meanwhile someone may have an answer soon here.
Please be patient, it may take several days.:oNovember 1, 2002 at 10:10 pm #99733magistykMemberDid he code the script himself? Because I’m guessing he’s putting a link in his profile to a webpage with a counter on it. It is not very hard, just go to any Perl resource website and search for “Counter Script”. Just find a small simple one that just displays the number of page hits. And put it on a webpage that is uploaded somwhere, now just link it in your profile. Is this helping? If not, let us know, we’ll try again!

I’m not quite sure how to do what you are talking about,(sticking the counter on a website, then linking it to your profile). anyways, I can’t find a freakin host that allowys you to use perl anyways!!!!!!!
I don’t plan on buying a ( .com) just to post a perl script.
Maybe i’m not clearly understanding what you mean.
let me know if you find a way.
