i cant use voice cause of the firewall, i have norton telling it to allow yahoo mess but it says something about ports need to be open for it, anyone help? (win98)
how do you know if you are booted? i once got hit with a crap load of pop ups which bumped me i know that was a boot but every other time it crashes is either during quiet time or when i close someones cam.
thanks
Ok first question I have is, if you close down nortons, does voice work then???
If so, then you need to tell nortons to open the port 5000-5001 which is what yahoo uses for voice chat.
How do you know you’re being booted? You won’t know 100% for sure. Because it could be a boot, or it could be yahoo.
Either way the disconnect will be subtle, this is because a yahoo server is down or someone is trying to crash it, or it could be someone sending you loads of packets clogging your ports, and poof, disconnect. If you have a third party application, working with yahoo messenger, then they can tell more if you’re receiving a boot, or not.
Good luck.
i’ll try it without norton but doing stuff like that really makes me nervous even more so in a chat room but i’ll try it quickly, then i’ll have a play around with those ports
thanks
