Ven0m posted this on another thread, posted it here for your information. Thanks Ven0m :0)
Here’s some of the current list, excluding exploits and other redundant things…
1. The size of the text input area in instant messages isn’t saved.
2. Sometimes the instant message window size isn’t saved.
3. There is no way to turn off the Messenger tips (in the IM windows) in Messenger, other than a registry key from the v8.1.0.421 build.
4. My Profiles has been removed for unknown reasons (probably won’t be added back).
5. Cannot perform : chat emotes in chats anymore.
6. Taskbar flashing for new messages received in chats don’t work anymore (hasn’t worked since v7.0).
7. Horizontal scrollbar still appears in the chat room user list if you minimize and restore the window (has for a long, long time now).
8. Version key is still stuck as 0.0.0.0, which needs fixed if using something like HyperIM for LaunchCast statuses.
9. Messenger locks up for no reason at times, especially with a captcha visible on screen. Could be possibly due to a bug in yui.dll.
10. Webcam servers are unstable and sometimes unusable, resulting in not connected messages, or for webcam sessions to drop completely.Current Exploits:
NOTE: This is a list of the current exploits known going around right now.– Pm’s with a %20 indent on sender which equals a space is used to crash messenger (yahoos fault)
– Many Chat service packets used in amplification attacks via packetload built up and sent all at once.
– Donkey Punch chat room voice chat exploit which can make you lose all listeners (0 listening), and essentially making you ‘suck the beep’.
– Voice ‘lagging’ that can cause Messenger to freeze up. It’s a flaw within yacscom.dll.
– Users are able to launch denial-of-service attacks on the RTP servers of an individual chat room, which causes ALL users to lose voice chat due to the RTP servers having low bandwidth.
– Plugin offer exploit that can cause a victim’s Yahoo! Messenger to crash.November 1, 2008 at 7:04 pm #171929imported_Ven0mMemberIt’s mainly for the latest v9.0 version (v9.0.0.2136) but I’ll keep it updated as much as I can. I’ll also post some of the other little issues Messenger and Yahoo’s own servers have at the current time. 🙂
December 25, 2008 at 3:41 pm #171942XavierMemberyou should add that annoying bug in which sometimes Y!M9 freezes after a while, when a link is clicked. It’s been there since Win XP Sp2 >_>
December 25, 2008 at 6:10 pm #171930imported_Ven0mMemberYeah, I’ll add that one in a bit and revise the list above.
January 5, 2009 at 7:45 pm #171943eraymundoMemberAnyone experiencing problem with voice server. Lately, I can’t use the call computer service on my YM. Also a lot of times, my webcam freezes.
January 5, 2009 at 8:56 pm #171931imported_Ven0mMemberWhat kind of voice server problem? Webcam freezing is a known one though.
January 8, 2009 at 6:49 am #171925Jeff HesterKeymasterI have Yahoo Messenger version 9.0.0.1912.
I cannot write in black font color in chat rooms. If I select black font color, it would appear grey after sending the message in the room. Only happens in the chat rooms not in PMs. Not sure if its specific to me or everyone using version 9 is having the same issue.
January 8, 2009 at 5:11 pm #171932imported_Ven0mMemberUpgrade to the latest Messenger 9, v9.0.0.2034.
January 10, 2009 at 5:09 am #171926Jeff HesterKeymasterWell, if the latest version was the solution to all new bugs there wouldn’t be so many bug lingering since years. I tried updating to 9.0.0.2034 with no luck.
Could someone please let me know if they can write in black fonts in chat rooms with messenger 9? When I’m writing its black, but after I enter it, it shows up grey in the chat room.
January 10, 2009 at 5:54 am #171933imported_Ven0mMemberWorks fine here. What version of Internet Explorer are you using and what version of Windows? As a last resort, I’d recommend a clean install of Yahoo! Messenger.
January 12, 2009 at 7:27 pm #171934imported_Ven0mMemberI’ve updated the list to reflect all current bugs and I’ve added a list of exploits.
February 9, 2009 at 6:35 pm #171944SaGaR13MemberNo matter what I try, I cannot get Yahoo! Messenger 9 or 8 (any version) to install onto my PC with Microsoft Windows XP SP3. Each and every time I try I get the same message “Yahoo Messenger install unsuccessful”
I have tried various methods of installation, including turning my anti-virus and firewall off, instead of using the supplied installation mode. I have run CCleaner in advance, cleaned my registry, and even defragmented my hard drive. I have tried deleting the Yahoo! Messenger folder from my programs directory, as well as removing any other Yahoo! related items on my computer. I have gone to the Adobe website and installed the latest version of the Flash player. I have even tried installing it while in Safe Mode.
I have also tried voodoo tactics such as trying to hold my mouth in the proper position, making a ward-evil sign, and even jumped up and down and spun around 3 times while singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic.
However i noticed one thing….when i download from a sub-installer that yahoo provides at its messenger website, the complete download of messenger does take place, however, during installation, it stops at 57%, and displays the message: INSTALL UNSUCCESSFUL.
But when i tried installing from a 15 MB direct installer, the installation stopped at 94% and i got the following error:
I was installing it from an administrator account already. I also created a new administrator account and ran the installer from that account, but i got the same error again as listed above in the pic.
Any idea as to why is the installer saying that i don’t have administrative privileges although i am already using an administrator account? I don’t encounter such error while downloading any other application/software.
Plz help me!!
February 9, 2009 at 8:01 pm #171935imported_Ven0mMemberThat’s rather odd. What’s some of your PC specs?
February 9, 2009 at 8:13 pm #171945SaGaR13MemberI am using Microsoft XP SP3 Home edition. I had been using messenger 9.0 beta successfully till about a month back, but all this trouble started when i tried to upgrade it. Help!
February 9, 2009 at 8:31 pm #171936imported_Ven0mMemberAre you using the Vista Transformation Pack for XP or WindowBlinds (since it appears you’re using a Vista theme in the screenshot)? If so, that could be why that’s occurring.
