MemberOkay, let’s get to the point.
You get a computer game for christmas and it’s called Dark Age of Camelot. You open all the other presents and play with them for a bit then head upstairs and turn your computer on. You put in the CD, it installs. After installing it updates itself from the game’s site…
You run it.
You see that you have to make an account so you do. They ask for everything including address and phone number…
Now after making the account you log in…
…and BAM they ask for your credit card information. Supposedly there’s a 30 day free trial but you can’t even access that without giving them your credit card information…
So…who’se going to pay 13-11 dollars a month for a game? I mean, you already paid for it at the store. I don’t care that’s it’s an MMORPG and there’s thousands of players playing it and blah blah blah.
This just really got me mad…real mad….

MemberYeah, that’s one of the main reasons I don’t play MMORPG’s and other online only games. I just don’t feel like I should have to pay to play a game that I already payed $40+ for. Maybe if it was about $3 a month, but I’m only 13, ya know. Some companies don’t seem to understand that.

MemberYea, I think that’s really stupid. If you are going to charge monthly, then I think the game itself should be free or very, very cheap. That would probably give them more sales. I got a cell phone for Christmas (but I got it early, like in November), and some other smaller stuff.

MemberThey charge the monthly fee so they can pay people to do several things:
1. Monitor the game to make sure it is functioning correctly
2. To write new content, stories, etc, for the MMPORG
3. To pay for the servers and bandwith needed to run the game onlineWithout this monthly fee you would end up with something like Battlenet, and if any of you play Blizzard games online, you know what I am talking about.
