i have a digital camera that I can use as a webcam. But when I use it with yahoo messenger it comes up so dark you cannot see anything but maybe the outline of my head cause the light it above my head. I have turned up the brightness on my camera but that did not help. I have tried to change the options under preferences..webcam, but it wont let me change the brightness or anything. You can see so clearly on my screen on my camera but it comes up so dark on messenger. Can someone please help??
Also, I download skins for yahoo messenger but I dont see where to actually use them. When I try to change the skin under preferences the only skin options they give me are indigo, marvick blue, and classic.

Also, make sure the skins are unzipped.
and placed into C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphics
With their own directory

August 8, 2004 at 6:38 am #40453cadens_mommyMemberi heard you can now use downloaded skins on the new messenger? is this why mine are not working…cause I have the new messenger
August 8, 2004 at 7:05 am #40449amy_d_gParticipantYou can use skins on the new messenger, but not the ones for the old version… make sure you have the new ones… I have some on my site, and a few other people have made some too… they are posted in this forum… when you download them, make sure there isn’t a 2nd folder inside the skin folder… check this out to see how it should look after you unzip them…

And that should help you. Also, a back light may help as well.
August 8, 2004 at 8:33 pm #40450EliteNickMemberHi
Because I’ve gotten TOO MANY people saying they can’t install the new skins, I’ve written a tutorial on installing them, images as well because it seems people cannot grasp the simple installation process on these skins 😉
How To Install Yahoo! Messenger 6 Skins
Also, the skin has to be for YAHOO MESSENGER 6.0! It can’t be for an older version or it WILL NOT WORK! I would think this is common sense but I guess I was wrong.:);)
[EDIT: Thanks Jeff for unbanning my site!:)]
August 9, 2004 at 10:54 am #40454cadens_mommyMembersry nick…some of us just are dumb like that. I am new to all of this. I thought it would kinda been like the playstation games. you can use playstation 1 games on a PS2 system.
i tried so hard to create my own skin, but I can’t get it coordinated 🙁
August 9, 2004 at 9:48 pm #40451EliteNickMemberIt’s OK. Nah, it’s not like Playstation 1 and 2’s games’ compatability. Yahoo completely redesigned the Yahoo! Messenger layout with XML and such, so now it is a lot more skinnable, which also means old skins won’t work (The reason the old skins go in C:Program FilesYahoo!MessengerSkins and the new go in C:Program FilesYahoo!SharedGraphics ;))
