How do you go about making our shopping cart checkout more attractive. We have put all of the data in “Excel” and uploaded it that way into the xcart. Our’s is not too attrative though if you check out the website and search for something and click more details about the product. The website is http://www.appliancecenterdirect.com
If you go to other websites like abtelectronics.com, they have all of the text bolded, etc. We have tried to do that in excel and it will not work. Maybe they are doing it some other way and when uploading the information it’s staying bolded. Is there a way to do that in excel? Or maybe companies are using a different way to upload databases.
Any help, would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
Your database does not actually feed your site any of Excel’s style information. Here’s how it works, you have a template for your website script (xcart in this case), the script retrieves information from your database and this data is called into your site – it’s up to the template to add any other effects such as bold or italic, etc – it will not send any special formatting you have applied in excel. So to add bold text, you would need to adjust the template that calls up your script to add a tag around your intended bold text. (I don’t recommend bolding everything as that pretty much defeats the whole purpose of bold!)
You will need to know basic html and be able to understand the xcart template scripts to do this. If you had these skills, I doubt you would have needed to ask this question, so you may need to hire someone to apply these changes to your website script.
Of course you could simply do a quick and dirty fix by to surrounding any text you want bolded in your database with tags – ie:
bolded text = bolded text
Good Luck!
