I want to switch the AIM smileys that come with Gaim for the smaller counterparts. I tried it before, using this page: https://bigblueball.com/im/aim/aim-smileys.php for the pictures. I noticed the AIM icons included with Gaim came with a transparent background so I easily edited the smaller pictures to do the same and resized the canvas to the size of the smileys as well.
When I swapped them with the ones included with Gaim, they all showed up fine on the computer of the person I was talking to except for the :'( smiley. Instead of the picture, “:'(” (without the quotations) would appear in its place. So I put the original picture back in its place, but “:'(” still appeared.
Since every other smiley worked, I know it’s possible, but how I can make it work?
