I am using ICQ 2003b and it is saving message history in the following file:
C:Program FilesICQ2003bxxxxxxxxxxxMessagesxxxxxxxxxx with x being my ICQ number. This above file has an extension of “.fpt”
Can this file be deleted? and is there a way to prevent this file from storing message history?
It was my belief that ICQ2003b had optional message global logging and optional individual message logging. I don’t have it installed right now to check.
Well, I deleted the content in this .fpt file and when I tried to use ICQ on the next boot, I got an error message that the file was missing and the program would not run without it and did I want to fix it. So I had to click on “fix it” and it created an new file with the same extension and it’s back to writing to that file again. Does anyone know how to stop ICQ from writing to this file??
Well, it looks like no one knows the answer to this one. I have done everything I can think of with this file and still can’t get ICQ to stop writing to it.
