What I’m wanting is a way to have a log/history of how many viewers are in the AIM section, a complete list of the thread popularity by members & non-members, and (if applicable) what web search terms brought them to a specific thread.
This will help me to understand which general questions everyone has and what is useful or deprecated information. I really want to clean up the stickies, but have done little with them since I’m hesitant to remove something that is used frequently. I would also like to redo and add to the FAQ, so some stats will greatly help me with that endeavor.
May 19, 2007 at 3:59 am #161441SpikeMemberAs far as I know, there aren’t any forum-based stats. Now, Jeff might be able to pull something up with his Google Analytics or whatever it’s called, but as of right now the forum software isn’t capable of such stats.

May 19, 2007 at 4:05 am #161439DavidParticipantThere are stats, but they are more generalized. Registrations per unit, new thread per unit, new posts per unit.. that sort of thing.
May 19, 2007 at 4:13 am #161442SpikeMemberAnd what’s a “unit”?
May 19, 2007 at 4:15 am #161440DavidParticipantunit of measurement: any division of quantity accepted as a standard of measurement or exchange; “the dollar is the United States unit of currency”; “a unit of wheat is a bushel”; “change per unit volume”
May 19, 2007 at 4:55 am #161438Jeff HesterKeymasterJon, one of the simplest ways to gauge topic popularity is sorting the forum in question by number of views, like this.
I can also run reports using Google Analytics that will tell us what keywords brought people to the site (and the most popular entry points). But first, tell me what time period you want to look at (last 30 days, last 12 months, etc.).
May 26, 2007 at 11:15 pm #161444Jon8RFCMemberExcellent! I’m going to look in to this tonight or tomorrow and decide what time periods and areas are relevant. Thanks 🙂
