Apple yesterday announced a $200 price cut on the iPhone. Anyone who bought one in the past two weeks can get a refund for the difference, and everyone else can get $100 Apple Store credit. So did they screw the early adopters?
They didn’t, it’s just technology and I mean the people paid for it right so obviously they wanted it. Smart buyers know to wait at the absolute least 6 months before rushing out and buying the newest thing.
Yeah… early buyers got screwed. Basically Apple got paid to have a whole bunch of rich beta-testers. $200 after only two months? C’mon. That’s not even fair.
We don’t have AT&T, so I can’t use an iPhone, but when they announced the iPod Touch, it was just perfect. I’m going to preorder the 16GB version. Sorry, speculating 🙂
Back on topic, yeah, those who bought it knew they’d have to pay the price (literally). It’s generous of Apple to give them any credit at all.
Hey… where’s my PS3 discount, huh? What about the discount for my cell phone? Computer? It’s exactly the same, only people are greedy and b**chy about the iPhone.
I think if they’d dropped the price 6 months later, or a year later, there wouldn’t be as much of an issue. We expect new technology to drop in price eventually. it’s just how things work. But a 33% drop after only two months? that’s unheard of. I can see if they’d dropped $50 off the price, no big deal. maybe even $100 off. But… two hundred dollars?
Perhaps the early-adopters should have seen it coming. If someone is dedicated to Apple so much as to buy one of their products at launch, then they shouldn’t really care a whole lot about the price, right?
Hey, I’m happy either way…and I get my $100 credit :p 😀 . Idk, I wanted, I didn’t want to wait, and I needed a phone so no biggie, but yea I was shocked at the move. Hey business is business…good move.
The iphone is just about to be released in the UK on 9 November.
Shock horror as the Brit’s get screwed on price again …. it will go on sale at 35% more that in the USA. I knew it would be more, things are so much cheaper in the states, but what the?

Well, I just say that at $600, it was more than I would want to spend, but at $400, I’ll probably get one. Soon. Hopefully.
