A work friend who doesn’t like the singer/songwriter Paul Weller was talking about “The Jam” reunion tour.
This is the reunion of a 3 piece band who had 4 No 1s in the UK in the 80s, but who are “reforming” without their lead singer, one Paul Weller [who doesn’t need the money because he has gone on to have a highly successfull solo career since those days. Indeed he is described in the press as “The Modfather” [as in Mods and Rockers]…if you don’t know what they are, sorry.
At this point my friend told me that it didn’t matter so much because “Bruce Foxton wrote all The Jam’s songs anyway!”
“Well he wrote News of the World, I know that…” I replied diplomatically, and left it at that.
I’m amazed how my diplomatic skills improve with middle age. When I was younger I would have laughed him out of the room!! …but, really, what would I have achieved by doing so?
Sometimes I’m so ashamed of how I acted when I was younger.
Why is it that you get so much attention [when you’re young] you have such a hard time being fair-minded with others [at least I did]?

I have one exception, I love the song they did called ‘A town called Malice’ which was featured in Billy Elliot.
There seems to be a lot of these old bands reforming at the moment, which to be honest in some respects I am not sure about. Like Take That etc, but then I have to admit I was never a big fan of their stuff either, Robbie Williams went onto better things… and the rest is history!:D
But then I am going to a summer concert in a few weeks with a gang of girls, which is a band singing all the old Queen songs, so I am sure I will sing along quite a bit :o.
As to your other comments regarding, not reacting to immature comments, I think that’s great you now bite your tongue so people don’t feel they have made a stupid comment. All that shows is caring nature.
We were all young once … in fact I am 40 next Saturday, inside mmh about 21 ask my husband I am sure he will back me up 😉

Tho DD never really split up, as far as I know.
Happy birthday for next saturday. Strangely I was far less phased by passing the so-called “big four-oh” than I was by becoming thirty!!
How soon am I allowed to post you a happy birthday wish? It would be nice to be first!
😎
