ok, I have a problem (kinda obvious…)
anyway, I wanted to play Halo on my computer, so I start it, and it gives me an error “a problem occured initializing directdraw. Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, plase run dxdiag”. so I do. I get there, and under the display tab it says:
directdraw acceleration: Not available
Direct3d: Not available
AGP Texture acceleration: Not available
🙁So I try to test the Directdraw. It gives me this error: “directdraw Failure at step 5 (User verification of rectangles): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)”
It won’t even let me test Direct3d
Under Note, it says “Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer”
I have DirectX 9.0c and Windows XP HomeI’ve tried to use the troubleshooter, and came to the conclusion that I wasted about an hour of my time. as usual with microsoft.

looking closely at the origional error, it says “Hardware acceleration maybe disabled”
duh. I just enabled it and it workedfor others, this is how I enabled it:
right click on the desktop->properties->settings->advanced->troubleshoot
move the bar to the left.Why didn’t Windows Troubleshooter tell me this?
May 17, 2007 at 12:19 am #161271DavidParticipantBecause XP doesn’t really have a troubleshooter? 😉
Glad you got it working though.
