MemberI recently had three contacts disappear from my buddies list. I understand that people can remove themselves from my list, yes this i am aware of. but is there any other way this can happen out side of me removing them myself?
No one has access to my account or my computer but yours truely.
I have never had a problem like this before.
I am using Ym 7.5 with voice.I don’t have a problem adding them back on as I do keep a list of my friends with a hardcopy.
any information would be cool.
Thanks

Memberhmm that’s kinda new to me that people can disappear from your list (unless they used a deny-a-buddy program or you deleted them).
Did you ask them if they deleted you?May 22, 2006 at 12:25 pm #145035Eagle_Kiwi
MemberHey Niq, I’m surprised.
If you have me on your YM list – then it makes no difference at all if I delete YOU from mine, and or add you back to mine, or whatever. Nothing *I* do should affect YOUR list. But, as you say, there are these “nasty” programs around (like BuddySpy? or DenyABuddy?) that are supposed to be able to remove your name from someone ELSE’S list – so I’d guess that those contacts of William’s MAY have been using such things.
Blooming absurd Invasion Of Privacy if you ask me – and if someone did that to me then no way would I WANT them as a “friend”. 😡
Anyway William, I wonder if those particular people ARE likely to mess around with such programs ? You may never know – and perhaps if they DO they might flatly deny it anyway.
If I were you I’d look on the bright side (I’d hate to lose a “friend” through simple misunderstanding) and ASSUME it was just a Yahoo glitch! 😉May 22, 2006 at 12:56 pm #145032Nessa

William: Any chance those 3 people were same person removing all their names from your list? Or those 3 people knew each other and together decided to do it at same time? If you asked, you probably wouldn’t get a straight answer from them, so best thing is probably to look at other possibilities.

Well, as William said he still has the screennames of these people, I really think asking straight away if they used a deny-a-buddy prog or something similar, isn’t the worst idea in this case.
If it’s just a yahoo glitch, they will most probably answer and he can add them back… If they don’t answer at all, well not nice, but at least he knows then whats goin on.Good luck William 🙂

MemberI have a question about deny-a-buddy programs. When one uses such a program does it erases the mail from the mail list, cause i think the id list and the mail list work independently. And if so,could niq tell us if the mail addresses have gone too?

They might get a notice if they wish to keep you in mail address or not. They are two different things, which is why the two work separately.

YOU may get a message asking if you want to keep them in your mail since they are deleting themselves off your list. (not always) So they should be in his mail address regardless if they used DaB or not.

Participantbuddy movement on yahoo at the moment is very bad.
Yahoo! are working on that end of the IM fixes between them and MSN.
People are getting buddy notifications from strangers..
People can add you without no warning popup on their side..
ignores wont work no matter how many times you ignore the person..
you turn pm’s off and they are still opening up on your screen..
these few have surfaced as common problems the last week or so and will continue till yahoo fix their system.
🙂
