I’ve got Windows Live Messenger and have found that you can’t copy and paste anything into where your display name is, where I’m sure in the other versions of MSN I used I was able too. I was just wondering if there is away you can copy and paste to where your display name info is?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Misty and welcome to the Big Blue Ball. I’m not sure what you were trying to copy, but I tried a few things and had no problem. To change your display name, click on the name, choose Personal Settings (at the bottom of the drop down box), then you can change, copy paste (even links) there. You can also add some emoticons there . . . if you want a kitty (&), a rainbow (R), a star (*) you get the idea.
Hope that helps!
Hi thanks for the welcome and reply. Sorry I don’t think I made myself very clear, I know how to change my display name and how to add emoticons that are custom with MSN. What I was trying to do is add symbols, or special characters e.g ﻍ ♣ but when there copied and pasted they turn into square boxes instead, yet I’ve seen other people with them in their display name, and I’ve been told it can be done, so I was just wondering if anyone knew. Appreciate the help.
Edited to say, I know how to do it now seems certain characters can’t be used hence why they were showing as boxes.
Ah – I thought there was more to it. Yeah, certain characters just won’t show up there, seems like no matter what. I’m glad you were able to figure it out. If you find out a way to make them show up though, please post it!
