ModeratorHi Roberto:
Zone Alarm (or ZA) used to be a top-notch firewall, with a lot of users. However, in my opinion, ZA has become more and more buggy and bloated with each new version. I’ve used it in the past but have now switched to another firewall. If you look at the other threads here in Big Blue, you’ll see that one of the most annoying problems ZA causes is the disappearing emoticons/display pictures problem. I suffered from that, too. After completely uninstalling ZA from my computer, that problem vanished.
There are a lot of users out there who are still sticking to ZA and hoping that they will come out with a fix (don’t hold your breath). I’m not one of them. I am enjoying my computing more, now that ZA has been uninstalled from my computer.

Philipthanks for the quick reply.
that’s exactly why i asked- if most of the answer were about the ZA problems, maybe there r other firewalls which r just as good, but without the bugs. can you say which firewalls don’t have the bugs- so people will know their options- or will it b advertising?

ModeratorI’m using BitDefender 9 Pro Plus. Has a firewall, anti-spam, anti-virus (which automatically updates several times a day!) It doesn’t consume a lot of system resources, and there is no interference with WLM8.

Memberim also encountered the same problem..where i could not view display pictures or personal messages….after a couple minutes i fixed the problem on one of my computers….all i did was open it up while zone alarm was closed……but on my other computer this solution did not work…but after fidiling around for a couple of minutes i solved it…all u have to do is uninstall windows live messenger and then disable zone alarm..after disabling it reinstall windows live messenger(while zone alarm is closed)… this should solve the problem..after the installation u can reopen sone alarm and u should be good to go..it worked for me so i hope it works for u…

MemberHello !
It’s just a very simple thing to check. On the right of the “find a contact or a number” field, click on the arrows (a tag “sort your contacts” is displayed when you put your mouse over it) and then, click on “Show contact’s details”
And it’s done ! 😉Best regards !
