I was playing pool a few months ago, and started talking to this girl, and it turned out that we were actually in the same shop in my local town at the same time that day. That was like wow, anyway she is on my messenger now and we chat all the time. Anyone else had anything like that happen. The world is a smal place!

It turns out we were sitting next to each other at the main bus station and jumped on the same bus. It was pretty weird haha.January 24, 2006 at 10:36 am #37731beinghackedMemberThat’s weird!!!!!!!??
My friend got married after an on-line relationship with a guy abroad!!January 24, 2006 at 12:18 pm #37726narayananMemberIts been the other way around for me, I’ve met ppl thro’ IM before I met them in person.
January 25, 2006 at 4:25 pm #37724Jeff HesterKeymasterI’ve only met one person from online and it was a girl that lived about 4 hrs away. Drove to meet her. Was nice, but she was definitely different than online, personality-wise.
January 25, 2006 at 4:53 pm #37729AqeelParticipantI posted my health problem online on a local health group. One of the doctors that replied.. We become online friends and regularly IM. In this summer I met him in hospital.

I met a woman on messenger about two years ago. we chated for nearly 6 months and decided to meet. She lived about 400 miles away. I had some business up her way and decided to do my business and stay a few days longer. Some how she got the idea in her head we had something more than a friendship although we never had such a conversation at this level.
No doubt she was very pretty and a pleasure to talk to. smart too but well there just wasnt any connection that was going to be more than just friends. She came unto me within two hours after meeting in person and when I denied her advances she got very mad. Being old school I was taught never to hit a woman EVER and I am happy to say I didn’t that night either but I came closer than I have ever in my life.
after she left mad as a wet hen I decided the next morning I would head back. a few hours later three guys stormed in and wanted to beat me to death for hurting her. long story short no punches were pulled and it ended ok.
But the sad thing about it was when I got back home she had acted on line like nothing ever happened. i had no choice but to end that friendship.

You can search to find information, saving time and redundant posts, and renew interest in interesting topics.
On one of my “group-of-moms” forums, after posting with this group for a few years, we were doing one of those get-to-know-you list things and come to find out that one of the gals and I had gone to the same elementary school (neither of us even lives in that state anymore). We don’t remember each other, but had the same memory of events at the time – so cool!
And scary stuff happens, too. Once had a person who became too friendly, had too much in common, started making me feel real uncomfortable so I never responded to her posts. That’s the best policy. If you don’t like the situation – stop posting (or block the IM or whatever).
