Can someone tell me or not? This topic haven’t reply for few hours…:(
July 24, 2003 at 2:08 am #92894ladie_vennomMemberThere isn’t a way on AIM to be in invisible mode. If u don’t want people to IM put up and away message.
July 24, 2003 at 2:18 am #92903Warri0r 7MemberI know but I really want be on invisble mode!
July 24, 2003 at 2:20 am #92898tontamooMemberWhy don’t you create a screen name that no one knows about. Then save and load your buddy list from your original screen name. If you have a program like DeadAIM, you can clone AIM. So….
Block everyone in your original screen name. Clone AIM. Sign onto your new screen name and check to see who is online. Then unblock the people you want to talk to on your original screen name.
I guess it’s complicated, but that’s the only way I think it can work….
July 24, 2003 at 2:38 am #92902Warri0r 7MemberNo, because I used my sn for long long time! So I prefer not to get a new screen name.
July 24, 2003 at 4:00 am #92897tontamooMemberI think you misunderstood me. You create a new screen name that only you know about. You can still keep your old screen name. If people don’t know about your new screen name, they won’t add you to their buddy list, but you can add them to your buddy list and they won’t know. That way, you can “spy” on them under your new screen name, and chat with the ones you want to under your old screen name. Did that make sense?
July 24, 2003 at 4:04 am #92893DavidParticipantBlock everyone on your buddy list? that’s not practical…but I guess could work.
If you have DeadAIMv4 – you can type messages and chat while your away message is on, thus most people will think your away, but your not really away…Not quite invisible, but still worth a try.
July 24, 2003 at 4:08 am #92901Warri0r 7MemberHey Tontamoo, You were right and I guess I have to create a new screen name now, so thanks for tip! Hey David! I don’t have a Dead Aim V4 so…:(

Yeah blocking everyone isn’t practical at all, but I can’t think of any other way to get an “invisible mode”. You would just unblock the people that you want to chat with….
I tried the messaging while away option. It works, but everytime my friends send me a message, the away message inserts itself. This is normal right? It’s annoying though, so I turned off the option after a 4-5 messages.
July 25, 2003 at 6:28 pm #92892DavidParticipantI was looking for a way to stop that, it does get VERY annoying…
So blocking all your buddies must be the best way.
One thing you might want to do is make a new screen name, load up your current list, block all your buddies, then save it. Now on your first screen name, save your list with nobody blocked. Then you can load up either on your first screen name and that’ll save you some time blocking/unblocking Buddy’s.
July 26, 2003 at 12:22 am #92899chokeonyourwordsMemberanother good idea, to add on, instead of blocking everyone, you should just use an allow list then add whoever you want to talk to to the allow list, that way, if there’s people who get new screen names who you don’t wanna talk to, or even bots for that matter, they won’t be able to talk to you.
July 26, 2003 at 4:59 am #92905XXRhinoXXMemberYou could also use instantidler for AIM 4.8, just do a search for it. It makes it look like you have been idle for a amount of time that u choose and u can still talk to people.
July 26, 2003 at 10:52 am #92895CFNMembergoing back to 4.8 is quite a step backwards though. anyone know of any idler programs for new versions of AIM?

I’m not sure but check http://www.aimfilez.com and click the **AIM FILE**, if they have it or not.
