I’m trying to figure out how Gchat works. Can you only chat with friends you email and ask to join? Or is there some search option or chat options similar to Yahoo? I’m just not getting why I’d want to use Gchat or how this works. Thanks for any help!
There is no way to search for people using Google Talk like you are talking about with Yahoo. You can add and send invites to people in your address book, but that’s about it. And most people you email will have to be invited to use Google Talk as well. GT is nice to have around because it’s a VERY tiny client, fast, you have voice and file transfers.
So yeah, in order to get friends, you must invite them from whoever you email and then you can add each other to your contact list.
