also,why is it so bad?
March 13, 2004 at 1:58 am #83190DangerBoyMemberThere ain’t nothing wrong with DAP as far as I know. Download Accelerator is just a download manager that supposedly speeds up your dls by 300%. I think you might get ads with the free version, but sfw. Why don’t you ask the idiots who told you it was bad.

Alana, I’m sure they were referring to the several spyware additions that come with the program that make it “bad”. If you pay for it, no ads are shown, and spyware will not be a problem. DAP is a great piece of software for dial up users, and with a spyware remover like SpyBot, it makes it all the better, thus reasoning why I choose it as my download manager.
If you choose you still do not want it, you can remove it from your computer by going to start>control panel – (settings>control panel)>add/remove programs and fild DAP, and choose remove. I would also suddjest downloading a SpyWare remover anyway to clean up any garbage left behind from DAP and others 😉
March 13, 2004 at 3:35 am #83183Lurking_BiohazardMemberYou can try an alternative program – Star Downloader.

I don’t know about download accelerators, but download managers are great. My favorite thing about it is that you can pause downloads. I remember using GoZilla a looong time ago.March 13, 2004 at 6:54 pm #83182Someguy03MemberI suggest internet download manager: http://internetdownloadmanager.com
I used it while I was temporarily on dial-up and it worked great. It sorts out all your downloads in a folder in my documents based on its type and has an almost alyways working resume download option. A few times my dial-up had cut off and I was able to reconnect and resume my download from where it left up. Another time my computer crashed, and I was still able to resume it.
Ex: A folder called “downloads” is in “my documents.” Inside “downloads” a folder will be created everytime a new type of file is downloaded, such as “compressed” or “video,” and future files of that type will be put in its folder.
