Does anyone know a good p2p software that can be used to download albums, not just individual songs, but albums? (that is not spyware infested). I use Limewire, but I can’t find any albums. If there is one, does it avoid using the bittorent download style?
Thanks for any responses and help. 🙂
November 1, 2005 at 3:08 am #132678OreoMemberWhy not go to the store and BUY the album? If you like the entire thing just buy it, support the band that you enjoy…otherwise downloading and ENTIRE album…that’s called illegal…
November 1, 2005 at 3:30 am #132689topramen422MemberAlbum prices are skyrocketing and its not worth it if you want to try out a new band, to test what type of music they make.
November 1, 2005 at 3:44 am #132685princeGParticipantYou can go the band’s site and see if they have the option to hear samples of their songs, many music artists do that nowadays.
November 1, 2005 at 4:01 am #132684TigerbladeParticipantIf you’re looking to try out new bands, then downloading individual songs or sample clips should be more than fine. If all you’re looking to do is “sample” the band, you dont need to download the entire album.
You can easily use iTunes or Amazon.com or the band’s website to listen to clips of their music, see if you like it. If you do like it, then go support them and buy the album. I’m not trying to come down hard on you or anything (I won’t try to claim that I’ve never downloaded an album before) but (1.) BBB does not support piracy, and that applies to music downloading and (2.) it’s unnecessary to download the whole album as a trial.
March 26, 2006 at 1:20 am #132690mc_leishMemberwell a good way to find new bands is to listen to the preveiws on the iTunes music store. As well like Tigerblade said, Amazon have tones of listings.
March 26, 2006 at 2:15 am #132675AnnaParticipantp2p is for teh noooooooobz.
Look into switching to bittorrents. It’s a different way to share files than p2p, and in terms of music, songs come in nothing but complete albums, always.
If you’re interested, give me a heads up, and I’ll explain how to get set up with a torrent client and a list of reputatable torrent sites.
March 26, 2006 at 3:31 am #132677detn8rParticipantAh yes Anna. That’s what I absolutly love about forums :> :> 3
Situation: someone asks question: 5 people respond with their opinion
I just love it!! Anyway, you can go for torrents as Anna said, or you can try IRC. Using an IRC search engine such as ircspy.com (my personal fav) will do the trick.

March 28, 2006 at 11:31 am #132691mc_leishMemberseeing as it is somewhat leagle to talk about downloading music for free on these forums, i must recomend downloading your albums via mIRC using XDCC.

Some music groups encourage the downloading of their music (to smaller groups, it’s a great way to become known), others prohibit it (usually large record labels).
Say I were to release an album, I don’t have a record deal, and my music isn’t very popular yet, so I hereby encourage everyone to download my music. 🙂
See? Just depends on what you’re downloading. And since topramen hasn’t actually named any of the music he seeks to download, we’ll assume he’s “innocent”. 😉

June 29, 2006 at 9:39 pm #132686LLXerxesMemberJust use iTunes, it’s $0.99 for a sample song, and it’s the same price for songs per album. It’s cheaper than any other place.
June 30, 2006 at 12:43 pm #132679OreoMemberI like iTunes a lot…and it’s better than causing problems for my PC in the end…a lot of those so called “free” sites add a lot more than just songs. Even if they did not … $.99 for a song…come on! It’s less than half a gallon of gas!

I’m not sure how they are in other countries, but here in the UK they have decreased in prices dramatically.
A few years ago an album straight off the shelf would of cost between £14 and £18, while now you can purchase brand new albums for as cheap as £9 – £12.
Personally If I want to sample a band: I’d listen to them on the band’s website/myspace music page, watch their videos on youtube or other video media sites and if I did like it I’d think about getting the album.
If you want to sample, try a few tracks off the web don’t get the whole album.
