My B-day is coming up (11-23, sort of), and I might get a new PC for my Birthday. But I’d like your suggestions here for what I should get.
Alright, first off I AM getting a Dell, so you can’t change my mind about that. And, my budget can’t exceed $1200. Also, I am definately going to need a Flat-Panel LCD Monitor, so that needs to be added too. And I would preferably like a Dimension desktop. Last thing: I need a CD Burner (48x).
So, what should I do? Go with speed or space? Should I get a 2400 or a 4800? I am open to suggestions and am going to show this to my pops so he can get an idea as well. Thanks everyone, I appreciate it!

I think you’ll appreciate that more when you’re not sitting down waiting for BBB to load up because you picked space over speed. but thats because 15gb is enough for me….but, if your someone who uses pictures a lot, and puts movies and such on it, then you might need more space.
September 29, 2004 at 2:40 am #37431_Max_Memberi have NOT had good experiences with a dell…but I mite as well not spend the time to type all the problems when your getting a dell for sure anyways
get a dvd burner (comes handy)

September 29, 2004 at 3:01 am #37427DavidParticipantMy minimum recommendations:
Pentium 4 at 2.8Ghz or higher (NOT A CELERON)
512MB or DDR SDRAM or more
80GB ATA hard disk (Serial-ATA recommended)
Windows XP Professional (Home is crap, just go for Pro)September 29, 2004 at 3:09 am #37429syntaxMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by DavidMy minimum recommendations:

September 29, 2004 at 3:28 am #37433FirefoxManMemberwhy not get an Apple eMac? they start @ $800. I added iSight, gave it 512 RAM, and it came to about $1,097. The eMac is more reliable too. It should fit your needs just fine, and should last you a loooong time.
