Is eBay a safe site to buy things from? I was looking at stuff their that I was thinking of buying and I don’t want to get ripped off or anything. So can I trust it? Thanks.

If both of these numbers are really high, it’s most likely safe to buy from them. I’ve bought a few things (at least 15, I’d say) from eBay and I haven’t been scammed.

But like Hurricane mentioned, look at their feedback, if it’s close to 100% and the comments are all good, then it’s safe to assume they are good sellers. I’ve purchased 27 items and still plan to buy more 😉 and i’ve never gotten ripped off. So it’s a good place to shop.

Be aware of the shipping costs! Sometimes they can be EXXXXTREMELY high, just because they want the extra cash. Or if you return it with any possible problems, PayPal only refunds you the item price less the shipping. Also be aware of knock offs from Asia!!!

If they have 100% feedback score, and high feedback history (ex: 100% feedback score for 9,000 items) then they are obviously a great seller to deal with. I have some great sellers in my “favorite sellers” I could give to you if you want, just drop an email. 😉
Oh, and I’ve bought 41 items from eBay. From books, to CD’s, to eBooks. Never once have I been scammed. *pat on back*

When in doubt, search for a seller with 100%, high history feedback rating.August 4, 2006 at 5:39 am #147332SpikeMemberI’ve got nearly 50 feedback myself (buying and selling ;)), and eBay is a pretty safe place. There’s more new stuff than used, so don’t let the whole “eBay” stereotype trick you. For instance, I just bought a capo (?) on eBay the other day. At a store around here, theyre $19.99 with tax. I got one from someone on eBay for $12.95 with $2 shipping, totaling under $15. It’s a great deal, and as long as you read the entire description and make sure you know what you’re getting, you’ll be just fine. 🙂

- Always pay with PayPal. If you use any other service or send a cheque or money order, eBay will not be able to refund your money if you do get scammed. (eBay owns PayPal)
- Always ask for the shipping costs before you bid on an item. It sucks to buy a $5 item, then find out it ships for $50. 🙁
