MemberA lot of people hate Eminem and I just can’t understand that. They hear him on the radio then say he sucks and stuff. He does have talent…and he doesn’t only sing songs like “Just Lose It”. Every single person that hates Eminem has probably never heard songs like “Mockingbird” or “Hailie’s Song” or “Kim”. He has reasons for why he’s rapping. He’s not lying or making things up. Most of his songs are emotionally driven while others are jokes or disses at people that have done things to him.
I’ve always wanted to say this: Discuss.

MemberI think his beats have been getting worse as time passes. I’m not saying he’s bad (in fact, he’s pretty good), but they just haven’t been as good as the old ones IMO. He’s still good though (well, most of the time, that is. I can barely stand Just Lose It now, since I’ve heard it so many times, over and over…)

MemberI agree with dragonreborn on this one. He sings a lot of songs that I don’t agree with, and his language is horrible, but he does sing from his heart on a lot of his songs. All of his songs don’t have to be about girls and sex and drugs, like most other rappers.
Edit: Dragon maybe “Kim” isnt such a good example as one of his “good songs”. I just downloaded it, and it’s HORRIBLE

MemberI support his language, its how he reaches the point. If the only way he can express the true anger and pain he feels is through music, then he is going to have to make it explicit in order to do so. Without cuss words, I’m not really sure how else he could show how he TRULY feels.
And he doesn’t sing like 50 cent: “Get Rich or Die Tryin”. WTF is that? Who wants to listen to a guy brag about his “awesome” life that seems to have no border between sex and civilized behavior (In Da Club). Black rappers seem to take things like cheating on their wife or getting arrested for having drugs and try and make it sound all cool and “gangsta” (this is where Usher succeeds on what other rappers fail).
Eminem sings of anger, depression, pain, sorrow, cheat, lying, etc. He sings of the things that are a part of reality, and people can relate to it. You aren’t going to meet someone who can relate to 50 Cent besides other black rappers themselves. Eminem took a genre that was in the total wrong direction, fixed it, and then revolutionized it.

MemberI know of a way he could express himself without cuss words….it’s called a “THESAURUS” I like a lot of eminem songs….I won’t deny that….but some of it goes a bit too far and there are LOTS and LOTS of ways to express ideas of anger without cuss words. It’s no wonder 12 year old’s vocabualries are 50% less than they were 15-20 years ago.

MemberI don’t listen to rap but when one of Eminem’s songs came on the radio, I found that they were quite good (some of them at least) and even Just Lose It is a good song (imo) if you judge it as a song, not a rap.
I also think that Eminem is a hell of a lot smarter then he lets on and that is why he’s gotten so far. If you actually read his lyrics they are quite intelligent and sometimes even tell a story unlike the majority of other raps which are just swear words linked together.
I’m happy Eminem is as rich and popular as he is. I don’t like people who make un inofrmed claims that he is a “poser” or whatever. That is all.

MemberA thesaurus? Oreo, Eminem’s goal might be to make songs people can listen to and understand without having to go to a dictionary.
“You’ve got me agitated and distraught. You have no idea how much anger I omit from this witless chronicle of my lifes perplexities. Evade the rest of these compositions and divert your attention to a more grand occurance.”
=D

MemberYeah the beats got worse but his reason for rapping hasn’t changed. He gets his opinion out there…especially in songs like “Mosh”. You probably heard that song on the radio a couple of times but I believe it was then disallowed but I’m not sure about that.
“Kim” may sound like a bunch of screaming but you have to listen to the lyrics. In the beginning he shows his love for his daughter, Halie, whom I might add is the most important woman in his life (or so Eminem says).
